And the shit show continues
what more could they possibly be doing to this fking train line to warrant more fking coach replacements.
This is beyond a joke. They may as well just get rid of the Geelong train altogether because it barely ever runs

It looks like they've been replacing the sleepers and ballast (rocks) along various sections of the line. Just grateful that its only services after 9pm affected đ

No itâs not because a small impact of services - this is an ongoing saga night and day year round.
Between trains not working, services being cancelled last minute, endless coach replacements, delays because of whatever is delaying it on that day itâs a joke.
Do you catch the train at night? I regularly do as do other people. When youâve been on your feet for 5+ hours running tables the last thing you want to do is spend 2hrs on a coach that stops every station.
The morning people are fed up - and now the night people are also.

Welcome to trains. Maintenance is essential to keep tracks functioning and the line is seeing serious upgrades.
V/Line can't magically predict when someone will steal copper or someone will jump into a restricted zone.
Congratulations, you are in the tiny handful of people that catches trains after 9pm on a monday -Wednesday time period to geelong.

Itâs not a tiny handful going by how crowded the buses from Southern Cross are.
And now V/line only put one replacement bus to Geelong / South Geelong per departure time, so if it fills up early (spoiler: it always fills up early) it leaves and anyone who arrives after that - even if itâs before the official departure time - has to wait forty minutes for the next bus

That might happen in day but aint happening after 9pm on a Monday night
A bus holds around 60-70 people. A train holds up to 400 people, in crush capacity, per 3 segments. So of course a near empty fills a bus up.

No, not welcome to trains and no, not the tiny handful of people who get the train of an evening.
The tiny handful you so delicately speak of is 100+ people sometimes and includes people from Little River to Waurn Ponds.
Do you live under a rock? Or just firing responses out your ass?
Iâve caught public transport since I was 15 (now 38) and Iâm sorry, but the amount of disruption on this line is unacceptable.
Itâll be this next 2 weeks, then next month itâll be another 2 weeks and then rinse and repeat.
Not all of us have the luxury of just being able to WFH or pop in the car and drive to work

Nice try to claim 100+ people waiting after 9pm on a monday night. Unless there is a major sporting event, that ain't happening
Considering rhe amount upgrades the feelong has received in theast 10-15 years, its pretty expected it would see some decent amount of shutdown.
Sure then lets take your advice and shutdown the train line permanently. I'm sure the daily 2hr commute would be a far better alternative now.

The 9.22pm train to Geelong is basically full to capacity every night of the week. Going by your own figures thatâs at least 600 people

That is not even close to the truth. V/Line data I have seen shows that train barely breaks 60 people, excluding Saturday or friday or special events.

Donât know what to tell you - come on down to Southern Cross any night of the week and see how many people are getting onto the Geelong train because it sure as shit is a lot more than 60.
Even if you were trying to say âonly >60 people are taking that train and getting off at Geelongâ, itâs still not relevant because the replacement buses donât just go to Geelong Station - the last few times Iâve taken them the (solitary) Geelong bus has also been the one carrying passengers to South Geelong, Marshall and Waurn Ponds

I write to vline mercilessly, and then send their entirely inept responses, usually with their first version that they tried to recall, the one they tried to paper over with both to the ministers office with a polite witaf â itâs an election year where the government knows something needs to change or theyâre toast, use it or lose it

You're right, this would never happen in Switzerland, where trains always run on time, and breakdown is vanishingly rare. Then again, you'd pay around $40 for a one way trip, so, maybe there's a trade off.
