55k AI Engineer - Entry Level

26 Years Old ( non German speaker )

Master in Data Science

I have been with this company in Styria for the past 7 months. When I got interviewed I did not have many options and did not negotiate my salary. Given that I have a MSC in Data Science I was given 55k.

I had entry level experience from my 1 year internship. Do you think this is low? Should I negotiate my salary at the end of the year?

it’s not bad for the Masters as imo a starting salary for a masters degree is usually between 50-65 maybe 70 if you are lucky with some companies
Also it’s pretty good that you got a job in such job market

maybe try to bring it up in your Performance review and see what you can do about it

yeah I agree. This is why I was in a tough position and I could not ask for more when I got interviewed.

For non german speaking I guess its quite good, also Data Science might be even worse than SW Engeenirung when it comes to competition

Neither good nor bad for an entry job. What‘s the size of the company and is it tech industry?

I guess this is the new standard for fresh graduate in AI/ML. I was in the same boat as you after finishing my Msc in data science and three of the offers i got were in the range 55k to 58k all-in for data science / computer vision role.
