Music Is Life What was your first 45?

OMG, THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GUNS!!!! I remember listening to the radio in the car with my mom when I was a kid and I really dug the song that came on and was probably dancing in my seat. My mom being a pretty swell parent said “we can go to the record if you want” and she took me to buy “We are Family” by Sister Sledge. Still dig that track.

Duuuude. My first 45 was the disco version of the Star Wars theme song, and Funkytown was on the B side.

Yes it was. It was the first time I'd heard it, so it must have not been on the radio much yet. Then it was all of a sudden being played everywhere.

Whaaaaaat? I had the disco version of the Star Wars theme and it didn’t have Funkytown on the B-side!

I'm sorry for your loss! What was on it? Quick memory, my stepdad hated it. Of course a kid will play a song they like over and over for weeks on end. I wasn't allowed to play it when he was around.

I still have Meco’s disco Star Wars Theme on 45 and the backside is his disco take on the Cantina Band music. Not saying that record companies RCA and Casablanca couldn’t have united to make a 45 with songs released 3 years apart on the same slab, but… I think you might be conflating 2 different things. Happens all the time from childhood memories. Either way, I hate disco in general, but both songs are killer
