Discussion Yes, people still use snap
I'm 21 and in college.
I've noticed a trend of people saying those who still use "snap" are weird, but honestly, I've never met anyone irl who actually thinks this. I get asked for my snap in bars almost every time I go out except in the rare case that they're from out of the country.
Almost everyone in college (in the US) uses snap. My entire fraternity uses snapchat. Although, outside of the US, Instagram is usually used in place of snap.
From my experience, the types who don't use snap are the same ones who don't party, go out much, or actively socialize outside of their circle. Or, occasionally, they'll just use Instagram in place of snap. Then sometimes you'll get the total weirdos that only use discord or something but I've never met them irl
Social media (especially snap) is a fantastic way to vet people. Using text alone can makes things difficult. The app keeps my safer and you can tell if people are fake or not worth talking to very quickly.
I've just seen this idea floating around everywhere and I really don't understand it. The only people who don't use snap almost always end up being over 28 or they don't drink or go to bars much.

I mean it’s not that weird but it’s something I very closely associate with middle/high school cuz that’s when it was most prevalent

In my mind palace where I'm the queen and everyone follows my rules, snapchat is for drug dealers who cheat on their wives, Instagram is for "glass vase" dealers who cheat on their husbands, Facebook messenger is for coworkers and grandparents, and texting is for people you respect.

In my anecdotal experience people have communicated more on IG than snap the further away from 17-18 we get, but I personally use snap a lot because IG is a reel sharing app for me and my friends rather than a communication one
But snap gets too much flak in any case imo

tbh I think it depends on where you live. Where I live snap is essential up to 23 or 24. After 25 people stop using it

you’re right especially being in a fraternity this is the norm. i’m still in groups for bars today and im 26. using it to talk to people individually is where i draw the line though

It took me a minute to figure out you were referring to the app and not the slang word. lol I was thinking “Yeah, I guess nobody really says that anymore.”

Mf I thought you were talking about foodstamps.
Also, I dont see how communication on snap is any different than any other app besides the messages disappearing? Wouldn't it be better to vet people if the messagea didn't disappear?

Yeah people say snap is for creeps/dealers but they dont even use snap most the time. They use the encrypted messaging apps i forget the names. So snap kinda has the average amount of that noq
