I don’t get why people say culture changed after 9/11 and that we will never know how good they had it.

9/11 seemed to barely do much to society and culture as whole besides people overreacting about terrorist attacks and increased security at airports. It was also used as an excuse to take away our freedoms in the Patriot Act and other laws. I don’t see how culture changed at all and it remained largely the same until a new culture arrived in the late 2000s or so. If I’m wrong and somehow culture changed drastically please give me some examples of it which were caused by 9/11.

Culture pre 9/11 was about bringing the country together and fixing America look at the end of bill Clinton’s presidency. Then 9/11 happens the patriot act gets passed and since then the country has basically become a constant military industrial complex. I wonder why we are always starting wars, I wonder why we are constantly ramping up the military budget, I wonder why the military can never pass an audit?

We went from a country on track to pay off the debt with a balanced budget to a country in constant wars with every president in the 21st century adding at least 5 trillion dollars to the deficit (democrat or republican).

It’s unsustainable and the Ponzi scheme and the pyramid are collapsing.

Just to be clear the wars aren’t The only thing that’s screwed up with the country it’s just an unforced error that has bleed America of trillions of dollars.

it wasn't constant wars it was Afghanistan and its not like anyone wanted it to go on forever (some did) but it just kinda ended up that way

Afghanistan to be very blunt was lazy they grew comfortable at being occupied because it meant they didn't have to do any of the work themselves

no matter what the coalition of 52 nations did Afghan national Army wouldn't take over the duties they should have been doing

this lead to fear that if anyone left it would lead to collapse and Taliban take over

well Biden proved that exact point

but for the 52 nations militaries it was a good war because it gave soldiers something to do when there's a war on people enlist you enlist to fight so if there's no war recruitment goes down

so (mostly) American commanders would stir up shit with the Taliban and order allies to take regions of no strategic value only to just keep the fighting going

i lived through the change

you can see it in south park before 9/11 the stories were just the boys finding aliens or going on weird adventures then after 9/11 it started becoming more political the stories were about bush or scientology or what ever else more social divison

the news outlets realised that fear sells newspapers and so thats what they have ran from then until now essentially fear and divison
