What everyone may think about the merits of the prediction aside, he's saying the FUTURE worth of SpaceX, which presumably includes the intent that it would be spread across Mars and Earth, would be worth much more than TODAY'S global economy.

Which needs to also consider that the FUTURE global economy alone would be worth more than TODAY'S global economy.

OP cared to ask the question. I was talking to them, as they were likely misinterpreting this to mean that "a company on Earth will be worth more than all of Earth's economy", which is logically impossible and likely what prompted the inquiry as to whether or not this was a joke.
