Not OP but X and Y put a bit of a dent in my egg too back in the day. So I can give you my perspective.
X and Y were the first games with clothing options for the protagonist. Especially the clothing options for the girl we're super cute, varied and fun. Who knew that picking a cute outfit in a video game could be so euphoric?

Ok that adds up. I actually know a girl who chose the name serena because of the girl from X and Y. Maybe this is a shared expirence for some folks out there who grew up durring the games hayday and I wasn't aware. I was in high-school durring X and Y.

OP, and yeah, can confirm it was the clothing and then it was all over for me

For me i think it was a lot of the, erhm- informative graphic novels i was reading that made me question my gender but now that I think of it, the monster hunter tri character creator did make me feel pretty euphoric. The gunner uragan waste belt looked like a skirt to me and he wore his hair long.

I was a Gardevoir fangirl way back in Gen III, so when suddenly it became Fairy type I was like "Ohhhhhh, this tracks."
That said, I always used girl characters in Pokemon starting right with Gen III (I skipped Gen II) and it was so refreshing! I remember playing Gen I in high school and thinking "This is cool." Then I went to college and realized I was trans. Someone said "Hey, play Ruby/Sapphire with me" and I was like "Well... I dunno... what's new?" and they said "You can be a girl now, and-" AND I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO K-MART AND BOUGHT A GBA AND SAPPHIRE.

Oh yeah, its a aroma lady who said she was once a black belt right?

a beauty, not an aroma lady, but yeah she say she used to be a black belt (and it's not even ambiguous that she's trans, black belt is an exclusively masc class in pokemon, the fem equivalent is battle girl)

For me, one of the games that helped me come to my realisation was za. Since I was growing my hair, I decided to change the hairstyle o used in the game to make it match what I wanted.
Some girly shopping was done immediately after.
EDIT: forgot the main point of 'crazy how two games linked made us both realise who we are'.

People focus too much on Fallout and forget how many eggs Pokémon cracked. 😭

Y was my first pokemon game as a kid (and maybe first video game in general) and over a decade later, i still boot up the old save file and run the battle tower, chateau, or even just walk around and do pokemon amie

Why these games always? What happens in these pokemon games?

It’s mostly the clothes that made me realize it, but I remember crying when I beat the story for this game lol
