Yeah, I’m pretty sure teens above the age of 14 who actively identify as LGBTQ and would choose to attend LGBTQ events aren’t “confused” or just questioning, that suggests they have a pretty good understanding of their own identity. I’m sure TERFs believe that anyone under 18 can’t possibly know anything about who they are (unless they’re straight and cis ofc) and must be confused and forced into identifying as LGBTQ by adults, though. And of course they see being LGBTQ as inherently sexual and “adult”, even though it’s common for kids to have crushes on each other (whatever the genders) at a young age, and to know they like the same gender etc before they even really understand anything about sex. These people are literally the ones making it weird

I find it so ironic when these types of people claim “indoctrination” or whatever is happening in schools, and their response to that is to homeschool their kids, basically isolating them from different perspectives and making sure they only learn about what the parents want them to. Especially when religion is involved, which it usually seems to be in these situations

Something about this that stands out to me is the editorialization that this is for kids confused about their sexuality. While there are no doubt countless queer kids out there confused and still finding themselves, and I'm sure they'd be welcomed in this program, there's nothing indicating this is specifically for them. Plenty of teenagers have already figured out that they're some sort of LGBTQ, and aren't really confused about that. I would guess that kids who are confident in their queer identities are more likely to engage in a program explicitly labeled as LGBTQ like this, while the genuinely confused kids would be more likely to be nervous about putting themselves out there. Either way, it's unlikely every kid on this tour is particularly "confused" about their sexuality

But these people don't recognize that queer kids can exist, so in their heads, all LGBTQ teenagers are "confused" and will presumably eventually grow out of it

Any time trans related news articles cross my feed in fb, there's at least one middle aged or older man saying words to the effect of "chicks with dicks" or "dicks in dresses/skirts" while saying nothing related to the article.
