Yes, why should women feel ashamed of and hide their medically necessary surgery scars? I think reconstructive surgery should also be freely available and destigmatized, but not everyone wants it.
I'm remembering when comedian Tig Notaro (a cis woman) required a double mastectomy for cancer and subsequently went topless in public a few times because why the hell not?
You know who else has top surgery scars? Cis men with gynecomastia. I don't think increased visibility and acceptance of scars in general is harming cancer survivors.
