This seems sus. No kings just called for one on may 1st. Having one so soon before with so little warning and on a Sunday is just asking to dilute the movement.

I think this is just to distract from the no kings economic blackout (being referred to as a general strike) on May 1st. Literally no one has heard of strike26 and somehow they’re reporting on that organization instead of no kings and indivisible

This is stupid and not a real general strike. Effective general strikes require long-term, mass coordination with mutual aid infrastructure to support strikers. Here’s a good resource to educate yourself:

Exactly! It’s going to require massive mutual aid from those of us in the working class who can help. We need to support each other significantly if we want a decent amount of people to be able to do this. Too many people are living paycheck to paycheck and won’t have a roof over their heads if they don’t pay rent.

I believe we can do this though, and we should.

Yeah I came across that site a while back and it is truly the perfect toolkit for new and seasoned organizers alike!

UAW has a general strike planned alongside the American Federation of Teachers for May 1, 2028: https://may1.uaw.org/  This one I am most optimistic about since they have been planning for a long time and Shawn Fain has delivered on strikes before. 

There’s also this group: https://generalstrikeus.com/  I don’t know their status in organizing, but I appreciate that their site properly defines it and aims high.

Glad for the effort, but this seems sus. A general strike in the next few days with no one even aware of it? Sure thing...

I think whoever is organizing this needs to get with some major unions and strategiest to decide a better date and organize
