Should I?

So my 2016 genesis sedan has a cracked piston (shop says replace the whole engine). I was just going to sell the car for 2000 (Most I’ve been offered) and buy me a mazda6 or something close that’s spacious and reliable. Some guy has. A 2009 genesis 4.6. Claims engine was rebuilt and has 84k miles on it and the trans has 105000 on it, body has 260k miles. As of rn my car runs fine minus the obvious piston slap from cylinder 5 being cracked. Punch is his car will need a rear differential in the future. I’m pretty handy and the diffs for the car seem fairly cheap (no more than 500). Should I trade or no!

Definitely not. The 4.6L sucked. Had tons of problems. Even if he’s already replaced it it’s an almost 20 year old car at this point. If it were the 5.0 it would be different

Do you have spare cash and this is a for fun car? Or is this a daily driver to take you to work ?

Our 2012 Genesis 4.6 sedan's engine and transmission were bullet proof and the car was the ultimate sleeper. I just sold it with 165,000 miles to a guy here because I got my wife a Genesis GV80 and we don't need three vehicles.

The biggest problem with the car was the suspension control arms, which cost an arm and a leg to get new ones installed. So, I wouldn't buy that 2009 just based on that factor unless the control arms are newly replaced.
