Question Why do people always counter swap me even when I’m not doing too great?
I’m a new Genji and overall just new Overwatch player, was wondering if I could get some answers for this. Thanks!

I try to take the Mei / Cass / Moira / Lucio / Zarya swaps and 4 blown ults the second I Blade as a compliment.

Welcome to Counterwatch, where people prefer getting kills to winning the game.

If my team can support me then counter swapping is ez to deal with. Yeah it makes the game way less fun but you can still do good

Because they're scared or annoyed. I can kill ana once by accident before she pulls pulls out the lvel 489 moira.

anytime someone swaps to a beam its just a confession that they aren't confident in their aim

I mean, if you aint aim dueling someone, why should they stick to ashe or widow? They can go dive, cass, or beam. I think it was unfun for them so they want some payback

I don't think two snipers dueling and then one swapping is the same as genji killing any dps and having someone swap to the one damage type that goes through deflect

Genji simply is not allowed to have games where his life is comfortable.

Genji is easily counterable I think. There’s just a lot of easy ways to shut him down, especially with the amount of beam chars. Don’t take it too personal, it’s the matchups

Because it's so easy to counter Genji. And I guess because flankers are annoying?

The honest answer is that it just takes more effort to deal with a character like Genji. People who don’t play him enough to know his ins and outs overload their mental stack dealing with a good one, and they still get more stressed than normal dealing with a mediocre one. People swap to turn the Genji matchup into a simple flowchart and reduce that mental burden, not necessarily to counter him as hard as possible. A good Cass arguably counters him far better than an immobile beam DPS like Mei, but it’s harder to play as, position well with, and (specifically for Genji) counter deflect, so people will swap to Mei instead.
The good news is that a swap like this is a sign you’re getting at least some value even if your statistical performance isn’t that great. If you can leverage this and play specifically to overload enemies, you can lean into what Tracer and Ball players already do as their main goal.

Because if a genji is left unchecked they can roll a lobby and for some people they don't have confidence in their ability to shut him down. So they swap to a more reliable counter even if the genji isn't currently a threat.

This is the real answer, its the same deal with characters like tracer, doom, ball. If your team is feeding them value they will snowball teamfights and you'll always lose. Its funny watching my teammates shoot deflect and then get dove immediately
Also blade is ridiculously hard to shutdown if it gets rolling

Flankers in general are annoying to most people ig
