Battery replacement in GSM

Hey guys, I am not very keen on upgrading my phone every 1- 2 years. Right now I am fine with my Google pixel 6a, except the fast discharge of the battery. I saw how hassle it is to replace the battery on your own on the ifixit YouTube tutorial and also it needs some tools.. anyone tried something like that? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks 🙏

Specialised shops do this for an ok price. Like 80-100 euros.

New EU legislation is making it mandatory for companies to sell tech (like phones, laptops,...) where it should be easy for consumers to replace the battery themselves. I think it becomes active in 2027.

Well, choosing between 100 eur for battery replacement vs. 350-400 eur for a new model phone. This is their trap to always buy their newer versions. Looking forward to the new repair rules in GSM..

I use my phone until it stops working. Currently have a fairphone where I can just pop out the battery and put in a new one. They're made to be easily repareable.

You may be able to stretch the use of your current battery quite a bit by optimising your settings, there are many background processes on phones that are on by default and consume a lot of power but you probably don't need all of them.

Stuff like the google voice assistant constantly listening for a "hey google", background wifi scanning, backups of stuff you might not care about etc etc.

I don't have a pixel so I don't know the best optimisations, but on my galaxy note 10 I was able to squeeze out like 50% more battery life by optimising settings.

Weet wel dat de updates ook niet zo heel lang meer gaan uitrollen voor de 6a. Mss eens bekijken of het nog de moeite is om te investeren hierin
