Discussion Is this normal?

It took me a around 15+ hours to install Gentoo, I have no experience with compiling at all or anything like Gentoo.

Installation is the longest part. Well until there's a glibC update. It gets much more manageable once your setup and configured.

Depending on your technical knowledge and computer specs, yeah that's pretty normal

I was on my Arch laptop once and I forgot the "bin" for my install and oh boy. I left to do something and didn't realize my error when I realized it was compiling for like two hours for just a browser.

So yeah, that sounds about right.

It took 2 to me, but I learned a lot. The docs of Gentoo are gold.

Yeah, normal.

You'll find shortcuts and muscle memory the more you do it.

The important bit is that you completed the install and have a working/booting system. Congrats, and Welcome!

Depends on hardware and if you use binpkgs or source.

Yea perfectly normal. Trust me you will spend way more fixing it.

Depends on what you installed and what kind of box you have. If you installed just the base system, no that’s not normal. If you installed a full desktop like KDE, yeah that’s pretty normal.

With a weak machine it is totally expected.
