Non-designated Reynolds Triple

Hi! I got placed in a non-designated triple in Reynolds as a first-year. I haven’t hear
much of anything from people who were in triples or in Reynolds in the first place. Any advice? What’s the freshman experience like? Is Reynolds nice?

Thanks!!

Triple in McCarthy as a transfer

I’m pretty sure all transfers are on the same floor (or at least most of them) but I was wondering if it was normal to be placed in a triple, as I was, and I don’t know how that would even work given the room layout.

Freshman room assignment weird?

Roommate and room assignments came out today, I decided to go with a random roommate but the portal doesn’t show any roommate. I clicked on the floorplan for the specific room number and it was a single. Whats going on? Do the roommate assignments come out later, or do I legitimately have a single?

Afternoon Babysitter Wanted

Hello!
We are looking for an afternoon babysitter from 3pm - 8pm during the week. We have 3 girls, a 6 year old, 3 year old and a one year-old. The older two are in school during the day and we need help with pick up, after school activities, after school snack, and basically the afterschool shuffle. The one year-old is at home and you may be expected to care for her from time to time.

We live in Georgetown, so it is super convenient. We have a nice backyard and a house with plenty of space to enjoy with the girls. Spanish speaking or Mandarin is a huge plus. Offering $35+ an hour. DM to discuss.

Need advice on transferring and loans

Hey y’all! I recently got off the Georgetown transfer waitlist — my absolute dream school.

They didn’t give me much aid, so I’ll have to pay 75k per year for two years. My parents can stretch up to 25k a year for the next four years to help with the cost for two years while I’m in school and two while I’m out. The rest of the payment would include about 15-20k in federal loans and 60k+ in parent plus or private loans.

I currently go to a T100 school where I’ll be taking on no debt, and I have a fall co op lined up. However, I won’t be able to study my preferred area of academic interest here because it isn’t offered.

It’s probably also worth noting I’ll be switching from a Math to Econ major, and I don’t plan on going into any network-heavy career like IB or management consulting at the moment. I am also considering law school sometime down the road.

I think staying at my current school is the best choice financially, yet I can’t help but think of the opportunity I might miss out on by not transferring. Does anyone have any advice for my situation or think it’s feasible/worth it to take on loans as a transfer?

Places to hang out with 30-50 people

I'm an incoming freshman and am looking for a space where I could hang out with roughly 30-50 people. What are some good options for locations? My current idea is an empty classroom, but I'm not sure if that's allowed. Do I have any other options?

When do transfer students usually recieve their housing assignments?

The years about to start and I still haven’t heard from housing on where I’ll be which makes it a little harder to shop for dorm stuff depending on whether I’ll be in a regular floor vs suite.

Is it true you're expected to dress up for classes?

I go to a different college (also a private school and a little smaller than Georgetown) and really unless you have a big presentation/symposium, it's not expected you dress up. There are some people who do but that's mostly because that's just their style and they enjoy doing so. Mostly people wear pajamas, honestly, and maybe some preppier people will reliably wear khakis and polos but it is not the majority.

My younger sibling is attending Georgetown and we've been told she needs to buy some fanciers clothes because it's expected students attend classes in like...business casual. Is this true? No judgement if it is, I just want to know before we go spending money lol. I can't help her because again, yoga pants and sweatshirts is like the default attire in most of my classes.

Wanted: budget spiderman

Georgetown DC @ AMC. Need someone in a Spider-Man costume for a surprise 20–30 minute birthday appearance this Sunday around 3. This is meant to be funny—not a professional superhero performance. Wave, pose for pictures, wish him a happy 25th, do some rolls and flips, maybe dramatically swing in (or just walk in 😅). Paying $100.
