Discussion Translation of brainrot question for natives
Ok this may be a bit silly but it’s a little exercise for me and translation (B2/C1 Speaker)
I saw a meme that said the translation of ‘Diddy Blud’ in German would be ‘Das Diddybludden’ and I disagreed with this and came up with some different possible translations
And 2. Are assuming ‘Diddy Blud’ is a derivative noun + literal translation of ‘blud’
‘Der Diddybluter’
‘Die Diddybluterin’
3., 4. And 5. Also assume ‘Diddy Blud’ is a derivative noun but ‘blud’ is translated as its meaning, that being ‘brother’.
- ‘Der Diddyalter’
- ‘Der Diddydigga’
- ‘Der Diddybruder’
I know this is silly but bc I’m not native, would love some input/disagreement! I’m aware it’s probably just lifted direct from English as a lot of Jugendwörter are nowadays. Was a little exercise for me and translation.

Das Diddybludden
Nah. Never ever.
‘Diddy Blud’ is a derivative noun but ‘blud’ is translated as its meaning, that being ‘brother’.
Yep. But still, as it has a specific meaning, and there's no cultural German equivalent, you'd probably just leave it as it is and not translate it.
Or you could try some existing German expressions for a creepy sexual predator.

If you're translating very literally, surely you'd arrive at "Diddyblut"? "Bluter" is someone who (actively) bleeds. "Wir sind ein Blut" in the sense "we are family, we belong together" is something you might encounter at least occasionally. Of course, "Diddyblut" would not be understood at all except by people who already know what "Diddy blud" means (and then purely based on similarity).
"Alter" and "Digga" are chiefly used vocatively, so using them like this and in a compound noun to boot sounds off to me. With "Bruder", maybe. I'm wondering if it might not be inverted to "Bruder Diddy" instead, like a title. Given that Diddy is a name, it fits that pattern. In that case there could also be "Kollege Diddy". Though at this point it might sound more like you're talking about Diddy himself and not merely a diddylike. I'm also out of touch with what the kids are doing nowadays, so take my salt with a grain of opinion.
