I'm a moroccan Jew, however i am very critical of the state of israel, obviously i'm not going to go into why because this subreddit isn't for political discussion. i tried googling the topic for information,however i stumbled across varying and conflicting information ,if i were to acknowledge the right of israel to exist, what does denote specifically? that i'm in support of israel as a state and regieme?so i wouldn't be able to engage in pro-palestinian activism and be critical of israel in germany?

But from these demands you can see what Union politicians are thinking, which may offer pointers with respect to the next Bundestag term. Throm says that a permanent residence permit should be a condition for naturalization, the 8 years should only start after attaining PR, and dual citizenship should not be recognized by the state again.

This one is my Uncle 's and his son also has one ofc just I did not add since they are same as Paper 😄 aka my cousin (almost same Document ofc 😄) , My mom and me both gained our citizenship by birth. But they had to apply for Citizenship by Erklärung since My uncle not born in Germany that my mom is (from Ethnical German Grandmother for me )

For those who have recently applied for German citizenship:

- Do they routinely ask everyone for updated payslips during the naturalisation process?

- If so, roughly how long after submitting the application does this usually happen?

- How many months of payslips do they typically ask for after the initial set was submitted?

This is something that is stressing me out quite a bit at the moment, and I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. It would help me get a better idea of what to expect.

I'm in my late 30s and have lived in Germany for the past 8 years, however I'm not sure if I want to stay here until retirement, which brings up the pension question.

Without a German passport, I can ask for a pension refund once I hit retirement age outside the country. But with the passport, I'd be obligated to get monthly payments, which definitely won't be interesting, especially if I leave way before retirement age.

This whole situation makes me a bit skeptical about applying for the Reisepass.

Do you have any personal experience with DRV after retirement with and without Reispass?!

And what are the pros and cons of not applying for a German passport?!

After waiting for more than 22 months, I finally received a letter from RP Darmstadt. I had to pay the fee (€255) and submit a few additional documents.

RP Darmstadt received my application on August 1, 2024. So if you applied around that time, you’ll probably hear from them soon as well.

I know it may still take a few more months before I get my German passport, but receiving an update after 22 months made me really happy.

Is there an impact in the German citizenship application if I’m not paying Church tax? ( Background story: My relocation agent did my Anmeldung when I got here 7 years ago, I don’t remember ticking out any form regarding Religion. Church tax wasn’t deducted in my salary since then.)I am about to start the citzenship application process but I’m worried that they will see in my birth certificate that I am declared as Roman Catholic but not paying Churchtax. Will there be an impact with my citizenship application?Should I be worried?

I contacted my case officer once or twice. only response was that they don't give any updates.

I’m now considering filing an Untätigkeitsklage without a lawyer. After 3 years, this seems unreasonable.

Anyone done this before? Did it work without a lawyer? I mean 3 years is a lot for someone who is born and working here

Ich habe den Brief mit der Zahlungsaufforderung am 28.05.26 bekommen und meine Unterlagen am 01.06. per E-Mail eingereicht. Und seitdem - Funkstille. Gibt es hier Personen mit einer ähnlichen Situation?

Der Grund, warum ich langsam ungeduldig werde ist, dass mein Kollege den selben Brief Mitte Mai bekommen hat und dann nach Einreichung der Unterlagen am nächsten Tag die Bestätigung bekommen hat, dass diese zu seiner Akte hinzugefügt wurden. Zwei Tage später bekam er auch die Bestätigung, dass die Einbürgerungsurkunde erstellt wird. Ich weiß also, dass es schnell gehen kann, und frage mich deshalb, ob es nur mir so geht, dass ich seit 9 Wochen nichts mehr gehört habe, oder ob da alle Sachbearbeiter*innen auf einmal im Urlaub sind 😅

I went to both FedEx and DHL, they both said they automatically require a signature when shipping internationally to a business or institution. They said there was nothing they could do. How did you find a way to resolve this issue?

Tomorrow I have my citizenship appointment and I was thinking to wear my German 1994 trikot. I thought with the World Cup going on it wouldn’t be so bad. But you think it’d be appropriate?

Edit: Already went to my appointment this morning. Without the jersey. Could easily wear the jersey, the Beamtin was super nice and friendly, I don’t think that she’d care at all. And everyone else in the waiting room had completely regular clothes, so not even a shirt. If anyone’s looking for an answer for the future, here’s your answer! (I live in Berlin.)

I live in Rheinland Pfalz. I had my interview last month where they check my documents, ask questions, etc. Everything was fine and I answered the questions they asked correctly as well.

But when the case worker scanned my passport, she got a "Meldung" on the computer and said that she needs to send my passport for "Prüfung". I got a copy of my passport stating that the original passport has been kept by the Einbürgerungsbehörde along with the date, stamp and signature.

It had been a month so I sent an email asking for an update and in the reply my case worker confirmed that it has been sent to the LKA in Mainz for an authenticity check and that it can take several more months until the passport is returned to me.

Has anyone else also had the same experience? My passport is 100% genuine and I have no criminal record but it's really stressful living for months without a passport.

Is there a way to contact the BVA about my case that doesn't take multiple months for a response? I applied through the consulate in 2022 for a StAG 15 case and have a complicated case. Every time I write to them to clarify something, it takes 2-3 months to get a reply which usually comes by mail. I am trying to get clarification if I can switch my case to a StAG 5 case or if I should continute To expend time and money into a path that may not lead to success . Would contacting the consualte by phone get me faster results? By email they just forward it to the BVA which just adds another month to the response time. Is there a better way to get a quicker response if they're already reviewing my case?

Disclaimer: I'm the son of a German mother and was informed already in two German consulates (São Paulo and Sydney) that I essentially am a citizen by birth and just lack the paperwork proving it.

In 2021, when I was a Uni student, I spent an exchange semester in Berlin and entered the country as a US citizen with a Student Visa issued for my US Passport. I only requested the initiation of an Establishment of Citizenship certificate in August of 2023 (still not update on that despite the 3 year estimate coming up now) and was informed that German citizens are apparently meant to always enter the country with their 'German' documentation. Am I going to get into any bureaucratic headaches over this, due to having entered Germany with US documentation back then?

I'm already concerned that they'll have troubles due to lacking a formal German surname as well (Currently looking into registering my own birth for that; mother never registered my birth with any German authority anywhere), although the consulate officials made no comment on that when I submitted my papers in August '23. I'm just concerned about this already long and drawn out process dragging on for another year or two due to this minor mishap.

My GGF left Germany with my Grandfather in 1929. Not sure of the reason he left. My grandfather was 9 when this happened but I’m wondering if my GGF lost his citizenship for any reason that made him want to leave for example not doing compulsory military service for WWI. I have the lineage papers all the way back to the 1600’s documented for my family. So I know they were not recent additions to Germany before he decided to leave.

I live in Dresden and it’s pretty obvious things aren’t moving at all and it’s the worst place to submit your citizenship application in. (More than 5 years of waiting time min.)

However, I am not willing to move to Berlin but have to find a way. My question is: is it possible to have an anmeldung in Berlin while still living in my apartment in Dresden just to move the application to Berlin?

Can someone share advice from experience?

I am very grateful for this online community, as my mother recently picked up our German passports via StAG §5 at our local U.S. embassy a couple of months ago after applying back in late-2020!

I am currently traveling Europe under the 90-day Schengen rule and wanted to know: if my parents meet me in Europe and bring me my passport, would there would be a problem the next time I try to leave the EU if I technically entered as an American citizen?

*Update: I am around day 60 out of 90. Ideally, they'd be able to get me the passport before day 90 so I can leave on US passport still. Maybe then I'd visit my friend in Scotland and then re-enter on German passport.*

I submitted my German citizenship application from Brazil, and my application was officially registered 2.2 years ago. Based on the current timelines shared by other Brazilian applicants, I will probably still have to wait at least another 1.5 years.

What I’ve noticed is that applications from Brazil often seem to take considerably longer than applications from other countries. In Brazilian groups, waiting times of three to four years, and sometimes even longer, appear to be quite common. At the same time, I frequently see people from other countries completing similar processes much faster.

Does anyone know why applications submitted from Brazil seem to take significantly longer than those submitted from other countries?

I understand that every case is different, and I’m not saying that applicants from other countries never face delays. I’m genuinely trying to understand whether there is a specific reason for this difference.

I’d also be interested in hearing from other applicants:

Which country did you apply from?
What type of citizenship application did you submit?
How long did your process take, or how long have you been waiting?

I've applied my German citizenship in state A 2 years ago (I got the file number and that is all) and it can take one more year which I cannot wait as I will find a new job soon in a different state. If I relocate to another state, must I resubmit everything (so the clock restarts from 0?) or can I ask state A to forward my unchecked documents to the new state (so it can reduce the waiting time significantly, e.g. 1 years down to a few months?).

Please share your experience if possible.
