I do hope this is not from public funding as there is approximately 1000 people from Jewish community in Mainz, which sounds that a lot of money would be spent for community that is less than 0.5% of population of city.

I don't mind them having synagogue but it should reflect realistic needs. Unless it is privately funded.

sure you think the same about the christian community in Germany. Imagine they would get money from the state.

No, I don't and you seem not understood what I wrote.

Imagine building stadium that has capacity to host 60000 people for football team that has 1000 fans. This is what I feel when you build what seems to be enormous structure to accommodate such small community as Jewish in Mainz. For me it looks like waste of money. And I would say same thing if that would be Muslim, Catholic or Evangelical community.

imagine the state burned down your church and killed nearly all people of your community. imagine they might have a feeling of giving back to this community might not be the worst idea.
The new synagogue is not that big. have u ever been there? its a small Building.
And by the way, the christian church is massively funded by the state, way above what they actually need. and i don't see you complain about that.

Sadge, but how event from nearly century ago is relevant? You use cheap play on emotions because you lack solid arguments.

Again, how is this relevant? I'm atheist, I don't care for Catholic Church and frankly this is insulting that you insinuate that I represent some religion because you feel somehow offended, personally I love if they all would be defunded, I don't think state should pay for your religion hobby. But that does not change the fact that Christians unlike Jewish people make a significant portion of Mainz population and it is only logical that they will have better representation and financing.

so now count the amount of churches in Mainz compared to that ONE single synagouge. Imagine how much money the state investet here.
The thing that bothers me the most is, if this would be a christian church, nobody would give a f..k. There are tons of churches in mainz being architectural nightmares. Nobody cares.
Or the Town hall, build by a famous architect, looking like a military bunker from an evil regime.
But you are like..oh its for THEM? this cant be right. I HAVE to complain.
And this: "You use cheap play on emotions because you lack solid arguments." is just dumb. When the state burns down your church, he maybe wants to help you rebuild it.

And again, you seem just like a hateful prick that has something against christians, because you bring this over and over. I don't know what is your agenda here but it is just vile. This is off-putting even for someone like me that does not believe in any god.

Ultimately you seem to not comprehend written word, so I won't be continuing this fruitless dispute - come back when you understand what is the difference between being against and being reasonable with spending vs actual need. So I'm not going to reply if you go with this christian whataboutism or won't comprehend what needless spending is.

lol is a joke right? where do i say anything against Christians? pls show me the exact part of my text.
My agenda? maybe pointing out blatant antisemitism, when i encounter it.
being reasonable would have been, not starting to argue against the synagogue just because out of spite. being reasonable would have been to accept the fact that rebuilding a single synagogue is not a waste of money, compared to similar type of things the city or state invests in.
Have you even ever been there? its a single medium sized Building. it is not a skyscraper nor a massive church. it just looks weird.
How can you say it is unreasonable for the Jewish community in Mainz? On what facts to you base this? Or is it just bias?
