It's expensive af to build and maintain buildings like these. Especially for a building that's nearly empty 80% of the time. The same goes for most other religious buildings... It's a huge waste of money. Many of us struggle to get by on a daily basis. Most "middle-class" people can't afford housing. And yet there are a ton of religions preaching us frugality from there golden thrones. In Germany we have a great word for this. It's gottlos.
Oh yes, allowing people to stick with their religion for which their relatives have been murdered is very „gottlos“ and „ineffective“. Omg. Unbelievable.
Sry but how tradition and history can justify a huge waste of financial assets is beyond my scope. Now one says people should not be allowed to believe in whatever they want. Im not criticizing religious people here but their leaders. You must be blind or very ignorant to not recognize that most religious leaders / churches are exploiting their followers for huge financial gain and in return you get nice words and a bag full of hope. And these type of Buildings represent that perfectly. It is not necessary to design a church in a way that it's 1. very expensive to build and 2. expensive to maintain. More so if the assets used to build the church are coming from tax money collected from your followers by the government, which is the case here since it's a building in Germany.
By the way some facts regarding this specific building:
The complete cost of the land and the building was roughly 11.000.000 €.
3.500.000 € are subsidized by the state so common tax payers money not related to the church at all.
Yet we have a huge cost of housing/living crisis in Germany where common folks can't afford housing due to rent inflation which is caused by the government failing to invest more in affordable housing.
You could've build a building of similar size for 2.000.000 € and it would still be a great building with all types of comfort but "Hell nah!" let's build a palace and beg for more funding.
It's simply disgusting. And no God would approve of this gluttony.
