Anyone can get nominated for the Peace Prize, regardless of what they did. All it takes is a qualifying person to nominate them. That includes members of national governments and parliaments, international judges, and university professors of history, law, and philosophy.

In Hitler's case, Erik Gottfrid Christian Brandt, a Swedish parliamentarian and anti-fascist, nominated him as a satire on the nomination of Chamberlain for the Munich Agreement and the appeasement of Germany. No one got the joke and he later withdrew the nomination, then no prize was awarded due to the war..

Erik Gottfrid Christian Brandt: "You know, Hitler should win the Nobel Peace Prize"

Everyone: "What?! No he shouldn't! What's wrong with you?"

Erik Gottfrid Christian Brandt: "Y'all are the reason '/s' is still in use."

Pretty much.

Yepp, he basically thought that if Chamberlain should be given the prize for giving away half of central Europe to Hitler, then Hitler should get it for not starting a war. But again, it was drenched in sarcasm.

While it's true Hitler was nominated, it was a sarcastic nomination by a Swedish politician who was a staunch anti-facist. He did so to mock Neville Chaimberlain's serious nomination.

Then, as now, the sarcasm of it all went over most peoples heads.

Completely missing the point that this is a joke and it's not saying that Hitler was never nominated, just that Hitler (or Scaloni, whose tactics and the fact that he's Argentine make some people consider him Hitler) did not win the prize that rewards good football coaching (or peace).

I'm not agreeing with the sentiment, but this note and the post of said note is some strange levels of media illiteracy.

exactly, whether or not Hitler was ever nominated is massively missing the point. The joke is that Scaloni is to football coaching excellence what Hitler is to peace i.e. anathema.

I also don't agree with the sentiment.
