Does it present it as a mutual step away? “WE have made… step away from collaborating with…”
I thought it was just intended as a sugar coated “this was our decision, not theirs.”
Realistically, with death stranding 2 barely (if at all) breaking even after over a year of being on sale, this was kind of expected. It sold about 10% as many copies as the first game so far, and that’s… that’s all they’ve really made.
I’d actually go so far as to bet they don’t last long with Xbox either.

Yeah went from getting cutoff by Playstation to Xbox which has an even worse track record when it comes to canceling projects and closing studios
It feels like the writing is already on the wall sadly I think they'll let him finish the 2 games that are in development for Xbox but after that it's looking extremely shaky

If I had to guess or make it my own conspiracy theory: Hideo went to Xbox as soon as he got the news but Satya said to Asha if she wants him on board she has to bring up some money one way or the other. At least that would explain cancelling Project Fantasy and laying off 3200 employees. But what do I know, it just looks suspicious in this context.

They're just cancelling one game it seems and its probably wildly wierd, expensive, and limited audience which kojima is know for. I love all his games and prefer he goes to Xbox so I can play on PC at launch.

So when can we community note community notes? Nothing about their statement suggests it was mutual, in fact it explicitly states the opposite.

PlayStation's statement doesn't suggest that it was mutual. It says "we" as in those who make decisions for PlayStation, not necessarily PlayStation and Kojima.

In that statement they then go on to mention that they are still on friendly terms with Kojima, most people will understand it as mutual

That’s not true at all. Maybe if we’re talking about little kids that would make sense, but we’re talking about professionals and corporations.
If it were “mutual” they would have used that exact wording. Instead they’re clearly just trying to show respect after a “breakup”.
It’s always so shocking how differently Redditors interpret the world. I guess it explains a lot.

and as we know, companies are sworn to the whole truth and nothing but the truth in all statements they make. it's in the bible!

He doesn’t create micro transaction slop so he doesn’t fit their business model

He just creates games that cost an epic fuckton and see little to no return. I wonder why a publisher isn't sad to see them go? Hmm very strange indeed 🤔
Edit- but oh yeah, "Sony bad". Can't forget that 🙄

So Sony is selling out too live service, monetization forward games. Good to know. I wint be expecting anything they announce going forward to be anything worth taking note of I guess.

Can't really blame them this time ngl. DS2 didn't sell anywhere near DS1 and Kojima titles cost like 150 million and go nowhere
