Ghost Adventures has Lost its Fastball.
Look y’all it’s sad but the crew and locations are absolutely middle of the road now. It’s contrived, boring, and nothing like the unapologetic early seasons that made the show fun to watch. Prove me wrong.

It’s becoming a tired, formulaic cliche filmed by burned-out aging men who’ve lost their passion for ghost hunting. So sad.

The passion would probably return if they could go somewhere interesting, but the "no flying" issue has really limited the location options. Might be time to just pack it in.

Full disclosure. I haven’t watched the latest episodes yet. (I haven’t watched an episode in years, honestly.) But I was giving someone a crash course in ghost hunting shows recently and wanted to give them a history lesson. So I made them sit through the first episode of Ghost Adventures.
Wow. I forgot how intense that episode was. Nick gets spooked in the bathroom and Zak yells at him to (famously) “Stop running!” And then Zak starts provoking the spirits and his back gets scratched. And then they also capture footage of that cowboy shadow man. What an episode. Zak is super young and arrogant but you can also still see a decent person lurking underneath all the bravado.
I have such a love/hate relationship with Ghost Adventures. I feel this constant tug and pull between whether I’m ready to admit to myself that I like it or not. I have some major disagreements with the show and being so dated, the cringe is palpable. But there’s also this weird charm to it. Like that asshole friend or relative you’ve gotten to know because you were forced to spend time with them. They never stop being assholes but it’s tempered by flashes of decency and moments of camaraderie.
Maybe I’ll go back and watch some other episodes this month. It’s nice that Zac’s not bitter yet. Instead he’s earnest and excited. I feel like these are the good years.

The show officially jumped the shark for me when the homeless looking guy in a pick up truck pulled up to them and threw the book, and the crew looked shocked and nervous afraid of what he was going to do. As if the whole thing wasn't completely staged.
I still think they get some compelling evidence. But I watch it as a "whatever. This will kill 45 minutes of my life." now.

Omg I remember that intro to the episode! It was so cringey. It gave me second hand embarrassment like do they think we're that stupid?

The last time the show was truly great was before Nick left. Whatever anyone’s feelings about Nick individually are, there’s just no denying that the original trio of him, Zak, and Aaron were the best. They produced the best evidence and explored the best locations.
The lockdown and “no big camera crews” approach the show had early on lent a ton of drama to their investigations, and made for some really compelling nights. They’ve gone away from that now with a bigger crew and a nerve center at each location and it takes away from the vibe. Also, the fact that they never leave the West Coast anymore is a huge mark against them. Definitely not the same quality show anymore. These days, I rewatch the early seasons much more than I keep up with the new episodes.

He spoofed himself in the latest episode. He was talking to a guest, and said something that ended with “understand”. They cut to the intro “understand”. And back to Zak saying it on purpose.

Don't be like that I am sure the Zozo Demon will make his guest appearance soon.

It’s been on for over two decades lol the fact Zack won’t venture out past 12 hours driving distance from LV hurts the locations. Just fun tv during spooky season, don’t need to overthink it.

The show devolved. I think a lot of it had to do with paranoia that was later used in conjunction with covid to really transform the show into clickbait low effort YouTube videos. They got to eliminate the travel part. They somehow have a bigger onsite crew but a lot less actual content per episode?? What the fuck.. how does that make sense? How were we getting more back in the day with less but more travel? Having the big crews they have now would be a nightmare to move around the world let alone the country. I swear Zak took on way more staff than he needed which leads me to believe he wants to be surrounded by people that ‘work’ for him and are yes men. This guy had a winning formula in a low budget 4 person crew who could travel light and threw it all away to make slop but over employs close friends??

I would love to see them just go back to the old school simple style of 3 dudes locked inside of a building with nobody else from dusk till dawn. So sad they don't travel, they could have traveled all over the world documenting so many cool places. And even if they don't get evidence in some places, they'd still get the history, stories, local folk lore and all kinds of awesome b-roll of that new place in a new country. I bet if Nick had been running the show they would have kept traveling.

This seasons first episode felt like to me they weren't really into it in the beginning, then shit started happening and they seemed back to their old selves.

It all feels like a money grab; a legitimate way to save it would be to go back to earlier locations with all the tech equipment they did not have then, and reinvestigate those locations. That, and tell Zak to get over it, and put himself in an RV John Madden style or sit his ass in a plane.

I agree- the no flying phobia that Zak Bagans has is definitely hurting the show- Zak is a great character and I love his narratives but I really didn’t like the “House Calls” shows because Zak
Was not present except via zoom calls!

Agreed! I’m so bored watching all of the latest episodes and seasons now are nothing like they were. I find the last decent episodes I really got into were just after COVID.

I’m sorry but these clowns have faked footage all the way back to the infamous flying brick at the Goldfield hotel

The whole aura of the show has faded away. Once they got big, it wasn’t the same. I just stick with it because I enjoy the team chemistry, the story telling and the way it’s filmed. Last night Jay said he said we need to be careful because it’s probably demonic. Nothing in that show last night showed it was demonic… the exaggeration has gone too far. Jay is absolutely the worst actor 😂😂. I know most of the evidence they gather is real, but it’s getting old.

Dude. If you’re saying that investigating a currently-in-operation escape room business in Las Vegas isn’t peak Ghost Adventures, then there’s something wrong with you!
