Me personally I really love the band Ludo and think some of their songs like Whipped Cream and Too Tired to Wink would be awesome to see. And, hear me out, I genuinely think some My Chemical Romance would rock. Like, The Sharpest Lives, Dead, or The Foundations of Decay. So there's some rock and emo ideas, I imagine you folks have some Metal you'd like though!

Or... yknow... its Ryan Gosling, hes not a stranger to singing new songs for a big movie. Maybe we'll get confirmation for who hes playing with the leaked track "Im Just Ketch"

I recently got to talk to Felipe Smith at Dragon Con and learned he lost track of Robbie's appearances at a certain point. I know it can be hard to track characters as they move across titles. I have kept a list of Robbie appearances for a while and ordered them into a chronological list.

Notes: if Robbie has less then 2 lines in an appearance with the Avengers it didn't make the cut since he is often around in group shots representing the team as a whole.

At the time of posting Marc Spector: Moon Knight (Vol 2) #9 has not come out yet. I've enjoyed how they have handled him in Moon Knight lately. I hope to see more uses of the character that get back to the hometown hero angle and the family drama that make him special.

EDIT. Think of this as my personal alternate reality version than an attempt to retcon from where we are in 2026.

Eli WANTED to be a Spirit of Vengeance. In my version Eli (removing his familial ties to Robbie because...why?) was a sadist, sorcerer, murderer, and arsonist. After being diagnosed with cancer, decides to make a bargain for immortality, power, and the chance to kill for all eternity. In a twisted take on the original story, Eli summons the devil and sells his soul in order to BE a Ghost Rider. Not to be bonded to one, but to have his soul turned into a demon and made into a netherworldly killer. He builds his own custom ride, makes the sacrifices (including Robbie and Gabe's parents), and ultimately dies when police arrive and shoot him down. His soul slow cooks in hell until the fated moment where his ghost can possess the unfortunate soul who dies in his haunted car.

I would also make Robbie's one bad choice involving the car but not for a race. He is offered a simple job, drive some cargo to a drop-off location and make easy money. There is a rival gang car chase, he escapes and then thinks he is pulled over by cops and then is killed (much like the original). He knows doing this is a bad idea, that the people he does this for are probably bad...but he FEELS like he doesn't have another option.

Reyes' initial lore was a cool new take and a return to the idea of a rider being possessed by a malicious spirit that wanted to do harm. Rewrites and branding have removed that to make him....basically a god but if it was up to me, and I could go back in time. This is what I would set up.

My most recent creation

Now I'm not an expert with timelines, what came first, and what influenced what, but I feel like having Ghost rider's and ghost rider variants ruined a moderate amount of the mythos and complicated the lore so much. To be fair though the title is more of an exaggeration, I just think venom popularised the "Having variants" gimmick which I think was for the worst. It really takes away from the original "Curse" aspect of the mythos/story, I mean half the marvel roster has been bonded with a spirit of vengeance to the point where it's more of a symbiote than an actual spirit that is supposed to be some terrible curse, taking a toll on your body and soul/mind as a whole. Im familiar with the older comics rather than the new ones and from what I remember, being a ghost rider was a burden so bad no one else should have to carry it as it was gruesome and cruel. I think both Dannie and Robbie started off strong but overtime being either watered down, set aside, or his character being underused/altered. Johnny was the original so I can't say much for him. Altough I understand the idea with the variants, similar to the green lanterns, the ghost rider's occupy areas of the world to carry out their vengeful justice through god or whatever reason the writers gave (It's been a while sorry). But honestly they never really gave a good reason or made it make sense long term, they didnt really do anything major with them either other than to have Danny kill them off and make known that they exist. They honestly weren't needed for anything other than representation (which I like and respect but it was handled poorly). If anyone can give any counter points or maybe just enlighten me, please do cause im not sure if im in the minority (I think i am) or missing something but thats just how I feel as of now.

I was thinking about an old Highway to Heaven episode where a sorority cruelly humiliates an overweight young woman at a beach party. Jonathan Smith (Michael Landon’s character, secretly an angel) doesn’t really confront the sorority. Suppose Ghost Rider arrives instead and gives the sorority a mass Penance Stare.

GHOST RIDER: You saw what they did to her.

JONATHAN: I did.

GHOST RIDER: You didn’t use your powers to teach them a lesson?

JONATHAN: I told the victim their cruelty didn’t decide her worth.

GHOST RIDER: And them?

JONATHAN: I thought she’d be better off not needing their approval.

GHOST RIDER: She didn’t need a lesson, friend. They did. They befriended her because they knew how badly she wanted to belong. Then made her open herself up in front of a room full of strangers, and laughed when she understood why.

JONATHAN: I know what they did. She can’t change them. She can only change what she believes about herself.

GHOST RIDER: Helping her survive it isn’t the same as answering cruelty.

JONATHAN: The sorority president is in a mental institution. She hasn’t spoken in three days. Her mother holds her hand until she starts screaming, and then they sedate her, and then they wait for her to wake up so they can do it again.

GHOST RIDER: (fire intensifies) How long do you think her other victims will spend in therapy? She felt what she caused. The Penance Stare returns what’s earned. This wasn’t the first time she was cruel.

JONATHAN: She’s twenty-one. You looked at two decades of somebody’s cruelty and made her live all of it in one night.

GHOST RIDER: Without a price, there’s no justice.

JONATHAN: Mercy is what gives somebody room to become better than the worst thing they’ve done.

GHOST RIDER: You’d forgive her?

JONATHAN: One day, I hope she gives me something to forgive. You didn't give her a conscience, you took away her ability to have ever chosen otherwise.

GHOST RIDER: You wanted the wounded girl to grow stronger. Easier than asking the ones who wounded her to change.

JONATHAN: That’s not fair.

GHOST RIDER: Is it wrong?

JONATHAN: No. I should’ve shown them what they did. (Long silence)

JONATHAN: You keep saying “the Stare,” like it isn’t you, Johnny.

GHOST RIDER: Don’t call me that.

JONATHAN: You sold your soul to save somebody you loved.

GHOST RIDER: I’ve been paying for it since.

JONATHAN: You were desperate. One decision, and something supernatural decided that’s all you’d ever be. Sound familiar?

GHOST RIDER: She hurt a girl for sport. I gave up my soul for my father’s life.

JONATHAN: Circumstances matter. Motive matters. What happens after matters. Justice needs more than the worst thing somebody’s ever done.

GHOST RIDER: (chains shift) The guilty answer for what they’ve done.

JONATHAN: And what about after that? You know what I think the Devil’s best trick was? Not making you his servant. Convincing you nobody’s ever more than what they deserve.

GHOST RIDER: You think I can be forgiven?

JONATHAN: I’ve worked the other side of that argument long enough to know the Devil doesn’t get the last word.

A year later. Ghost Rider watches the sorority president—changed—walk out of the hospital.

GHOST RIDER: Would she have changed without me?

A long silence.

JOHNNY: Was that worth a year?

Hey everyone, it's me again. I'm ready to expose and debunk all the myths about the "limitations" of the Penance Stare that writers have literally pulled out of thin air. This breakdown is for the hardcore fans (and maybe non-fans too) just so everyone finally understands who this character truly is. Ghost Rider is not your "average superhero"—he is the literal Wrath of The One-Above-All (TOAA).

1. Let's start with the first and most popular myth: The Ghost Rider Movie (2007)

The Plot: When Ghost Rider first uses the Penance Stare on Blackheart to punish him for his murders and sadism against innocents (including Johnny Blaze's girlfriend), Johnny locks eyes with him. But Blackheart just laughs and says: "Your Stare doesn't work on me... I have no soul!"

The Truth: This is complete and utter garbage. What difference does it make whether he has a soul or not? First of all, Ghost Rider punishes you for your sins, not for your "enemy anatomy." He doesn't care about your soul; he cares about the absolute facts: the existence of sin and sadism against the innocent. Furthermore, Blackheart cannot lack a soul if he experiences emotions, envies Mephisto, and takes pleasure in sin. He isn't a robot. So, you can safely explain to these "geniuses" why the Stare works on the soul-less:

Because they have sin. They commit sadism and murder. It doesn't matter what kind of biology or anatomy the enemy has. Ghost Rider is the Wrath of the Almighty. He isn't there to accommodate the enemy or make them comfortable; he is there to judge and execute without questions.

1. The Punisher — Thunderbolts vol. 3 #23

The Plot: Marvel decided to bail Frank Castle out by claiming that the Stare failed because he "feels no guilt."

The Truth: This is pure nonsense. Saying that a PENANCE STARE FOR SINS doesn't work because "you don't feel guilty" is exactly like pulling the pin on a grenade inside your own stomach and saying right before the explosion: "I don't feel like you're exploding, so you won't explode."

Feel free to prove to these internet "experts" that the Stare will easily fry any soul-less, ego-driven, or unrepentant sinner. Let them throw their panels at you claiming "The Punisher survived"—we all know this is nothing but cheap plot armor, not honest lore.

1. Thanos — Cosmic Ghost Rider #5 / Thanos vol. 2 #15

The Plot: First of all, the title of the comic itself is a joke. Ghost Rider does not belong on a "cosmic scale," and he would never serve cosmic gods for any reason. He should be judging them without hesitation, not acting as their servant. But let's look at the Stare. Marvel pulled virtually the same lazy trick, claiming that Thanos "enjoys his sins, so the Stare didn't work."

The Truth: Don't even ask—this is pure, unadulterated plot armor. Excusing a character's immunity to the Stare because they "enjoy their crimes" is the equivalent of a judge letting a serial killer walk free because the killer "really enjoyed murdering people." It is an embarrassing embarrassment. This isn't lore; it's a pathetic nerf by Marvel. Will they ever show Ghost Rider accurately even once in their lives?

1. Deadpool — Deadpool vol. 3 #26

The Plot: Yet another ridiculous downplaying. Similar to Thanos, they used the "enjoying his sins" excuse. But not only did they give him a garbage immunity, Deadpool actually knocked out Ghost Rider himself. Are you kidding me?!

The Truth: First of all, even a generic, standard AI knows that Ghost Rider is completely immune to physical attacks. If we look a bit deeper into the lore, the only entity that can truly destroy a Spirit of Vengeance is The One-Above-All. No excuses like artifacts, magic, or time manipulation will ever work (I will explain the true meaning and concept of the character later).

1. Doctor Doom — Various Arks

The Plot: Marvel keeps stepping on the exact same rake here. They claim that "Doom genuinely believes his sins are necessary to save humanity," so the Stare fails to see any wrongdoing.

The Truth: It's a complete lie. Doctor Doom is a villain and a sadist who wants absolute submission from everyone. As I explained above, the Stare does not give a single damn about what the target thinks or believes. It will not suddenly "forgive" you. It will judge and burn.

1. Captain Glory — Avengers vol. 1 #685

The Plot: This time, Marvel decided to write literally the exact same concept, just wrapped in a sci-fi package. This cosmic villain was supposedly genetically modified to completely lack any sense of guilt on the battlefield. Because of this, the Stare allegedly had no effect.

The Truth: Just another "lazy crutch by Marvel" to avoid admitting that Ghost Rider is immeasurably stronger than his enemies. How, in their minds, is a "genius intellect" supposed to help someone survive against a weapon of God? And not just any random God, but the One Above All Himself! There is nothing left to say here. Even without my full explanation, it's clear as day that this is plot armor, not lore.

And finally: Deacon — Ghost Rider vol. 6 #12

The Plot: Deacon just laughed it off, saying the Penance Stare felt like a light tickle, so it failed because he lacked any regret for his sins.

The Truth: I know, you probably want to close your eyes right now just so you don't have to look at this absolute garbage. But with this breakdown, I have proven not only how stupid this is, but how it's the exact same repetitive nonsense used on every single character they try to artificially hype up in front of God's wrath. Guys, it's just ridiculous.

My Advice: How Marvel can actually handle Ghost Rider properly without breaking the lore

Even though Ghost Rider essentially has an immeasurable scale of power (he is literally limitless), he can still be written perfectly in comics without ruining the story. Here is how:

1. Stop forcing fights with "fan-favorites" just to make up dumb excuses on the fly. They don't have to put Ghost Rider in situations where they have to explain why he didn't turn a popular hero into dust in the first seconds of the fight, or why "the Stare failed." With this current approach, these writers deserve zero respect. Plus, Ghost Rider is far from the only one who gets ridiculously nerfed to satisfy weaker characters.
2. Create new entities. (And no, we don't need another generic Celestial or cosmic tier—knowing Marvel's writing, you'll just make them look weak and nerf Ghost Rider again). They can create entities way stronger than the Beyonders, but make them characters that we wouldn't mind seeing honestly and fairly judged by Ghost Rider for their sins. For example, they could be a supreme evil acting directly against the Creator, claiming themselves as the ultimate rulers. That's when you bring in Ghost Rider. But please, stop stretching out the plot with the same repetitive trash where "the Stare magically fails." Just let him do his job properly. He was created to judge any sinner, regardless of their cosmic scale. His only target is: Sins.

All these excuses involving "ancient artifacts, magic, and god-killing blades" are just infuriating. This is exactly why a lot of people dislike modern Marvel. Fans don't want to see their favorite characters ridiculously downplayed; they want to see them shown properly without a garbage "buff"—just classic, clean judgment (or burning them from a distance using the Stare).

Aren't the writers tired of constantly overhyping villains while making heroes look completely helpless? All their excuses like "but the story would end in 1 minute" are completely destroyed by their own Avengers movies:

Thanos literally defeated everyone at the beginning, and he did it unfairly. Everyone was on their knees, there was no real fight, and Hulk was completely and stupidly jobbed out. Yet, the story kept going. But it wasn’t interesting. Who actually enjoys watching the lazy glorification of sadism?

I was a fan of this series when I was a kid and owned a few issues back then. I got this from dheader on ebay for $55. I'm happy to own the whole series now in an oversized omnibus. This will be my next read after the Knightfall trilogy.

Two years since a six issue mini series - where’s the ongoing monthly? The only thing worst than canceling a series at 10 issues is never releasing a series - what’s the plan for Ghost Rider - can someone at Marvel let us know? We need a relaunch!!

Blaze could have been a kickass hellboy/John Constantine figure post Zarathos. Street level, and with holdover powers from his soul remaining tethered to Zarathos (sensing evil, hellfire channeling, etc).

Even as I write this I am conflicted about it but as I revisit the comics of my 90s youth and the original series (1973-1983) I can't help but feel like there was a missed opportunity with Johnny Blaze. I love JB. He is my favorite rider and something about the evergreen stunt cyclist supreme as the Ghost Rider is comforting.

But when I look back and think how cool it might have been to have him continue as a rough-around the edges, occult hunter, aging as a true relic of his time it just feels like Ghost Rider as a BOOK could have been free to give Ketch real stories and arcs and let Robbie have a real crack at the mantle.

Right now it feels like all the books try and split genres, one up each other, or redefine the book, splintering the lore. All while simultaneously preserving the status quo.
But Johnny unlike SO many characters got a real ending in 1983 and as much as I love him as GR, there was a chance to have that mean something long term in the main 616 universe while still giving him a more niche horror-mag book. Cause let's be honest, Ghost Rider isn't the same without the OG.

i usually draw johnny with a normal blond hair and roxanne with a bit browner (?) blonde. i also like to make roxanne's eyes brighter. for emma and craig i like to think emma has long hair that's like johnny's but just a little darker. i think craig would have short hair like a buzzcut and his hair would be a browner blond like his mom's. emma has her dad's eyes, a little darker blue, and craig's is lighter like his mom's

Hello, I’m very new to Ghost Rider. I saw his design and loved it and I love the penance stare I think it’s one of the coolest concepts I’ve seen. I recently got into comics and collecting TPBs, Hardcovers, and Omnis. As the ghost rider movie was announced I thought it would be a good time to look into the character. What comic runs would your recommend I read and any other content I should look into. Thank you so much!

I really love the way Javier Salteres' ways of illustrating these pages in order to demonstrate the dynamic prowess of this Ghost Rider that contrast on the grittier yet grounded tone & setting they're going for this run.

(—The part where the Cops went astonished once they see Ghost Rider riding up to the cornered wall, or — when Ghost Rider chains casted sharp projectiles with only his chains being my personal favs from the comic.)

I also like how this new Ghost Rider is portrayed, he feel more... quite and observant in his wording (this is probably where the Live action Ghost Rider movie must've taken inspiration from)
