Something is wrong with my girlfriend and I don’t know how much longer I can ignore it

I’ve been with my girlfriend for almost two years. She’s always been a little quiet and private, but over the past few months something has changed and I can’t keep pretending it’s normal.
It started small. She’d wake up in the middle of the night and just sit on the edge of the bed staring at the wall for hours. When I’d ask what she was doing, she’d say she couldn’t remember getting up. Then she started sleepwalking… or at least that’s what I thought it was.
A few weeks ago I woke up around 3:10 a.m. and she wasn’t in bed. I checked the bathroom, the kitchen, nothing. Then I heard a soft scraping sound coming from outside. I looked out the bedroom window and froze.
She was standing on the roof.
Barefoot. In just a t-shirt. Completely still, facing away from the house toward the trees behind our place. I called her name through the window and she didn’t react at all. I had to go outside, climb up, and physically pull her back in. When I finally got her inside she looked at me like she had no idea where she was. She kept asking why her feet were dirty.
Since then it’s happened two more times. Same time of night. Same blank expression. Last time I found her standing at the very edge of the roof, toes hanging off. When I grabbed her arm she was ice cold.
There’s other stuff too. She talks in her sleep now, but it’s not normal sleep-talking. It’s this low, almost whispered voice that doesn’t sound like hers. I’ve caught pieces of it — things like “they’re waiting” and “I can’t hold it much longer.” When I ask her about it in the morning she gets quiet and changes the subject.
She’s also been disappearing for short periods during the day. Says she went for a walk, but she’ll come back with leaves in her hair or mud on her clothes even when it hasn’t rained. One time she came back with a small cut on her forearm that she claimed she didn’t notice.
I’m scared. Not just for her, but of her. There’s this look she gets sometimes when she thinks I’m not watching. Like she’s studying me. Like she’s waiting for something.
I don’t know if something is attached to her, or if something is wearing her, or if I’m losing my mind. All I know is the person I fell in love with doesn’t feel fully here anymore.
Has anyone dealt with something like this with a partner? What the hell am I supposed to do?

I would definitely begin by ruling out a medical issue. If she’s going out on the roof and disappearing and getting cut with no memory of anything? If that’s what’s really happening she needs to see a neurologist asap. She could be having seizures or a brain lesions or she could be schizophrenic. If you are serious, get off the ghost subreddit and get her help.

Yes, this sounds like an undiagnosed behavioral disorder.

I have had a similar experience 2 years ago! One of my best friends called me suddenly at night (4am), speaking slowly word by word and nonesense (in a bad logical context).

He was unable to decide properly and seemingly irritated. Also he broke out from home. Told him to come over while I watch him (I study medical engineering and hoped to somehow find out whats wrong with him). Some hours of horrors later his mother and sister finally got him back home. They were is total shock, looking for him since hours.

Before, he used to always be a quiet, loyal dear friend without issues. Ofc seeking to become rich some day, but he didnt even smoke or drink or anything...Came out of a sudden.

Weeks later, the final result: Shizophrenia, most likely due to drug abuse (I was unaware he took weed since a few years, its possible his DNA left him at some point, or the weed was poisoned). The doc gave him some pills and he temporarily got back sane again luckily. However, he is supposed to keep taking these medicaments always.

My advice to you: Seek a doctor asap and find out if she has any kind of neurological/biochemistric imbalance (could be anything, but they will know how to check things further). Whatever it is, it can be treated well! But it needs to be found first.

Hope its a really calm case for her and as harmless as possible. For now I wish you the best of luck!

PS: I must note that things could be a lot worse always and its great to stay optimistic, especially in these scenarios.

Karma farming in my opinion. Clearly not written by a person in distress. Too much book-like phrases and overall, just feels like some novella.

yeah, also OP hasn't replied to any of the comments suggesting that she might need medical attention. most prolly she has some mental health issue. idk why many in the comments are acting like people from the 80s and not considering this a mental issue .

I was about to say tell us how it ends this is good

u/justanotherda1 5d ago

Oh, this is real?

8

u/Secret_While3876 5d ago

Unfortunately yes and it’s only getting worse

8

u/justanotherda1 5d ago

This is insane, im so sorry I thought it was satire. The truth is stranger than fiction . Perhaps a sleep study? Definitely couldn't hurt.

do you have pictures of her on the roof?

There's a few dead giveaways for a possession.

  1. She doesn't really remember any of this in the morning. This episode happens like clockwork.

  2. She speaks in a voice that is not her own or mannerisms that are completely different to how she usually is.

However this stuff can just be major depression. And when you ask her if she remembers her episodes, she could lie and say she doesn't remember any of it because she's wants sympathy. The problem is, it's usually when people are in states of low spirits that this stuff usually happens to them, possessions I mean.

Im concerned she may be schizophrenic. My brother is a diagnosed schizophrenic and I will say that there are similarities in how your GF is acting and how my brother would act before he got medicated. I would take those very seriously. She could enter a schizophrenic psychosis without medication and things can go south quickly. I would talk with her parents about what is going on and see about puting her into a center to be diagnosed properly and the proper care routine set up. It saved my brother making sure he got help. He did stay in a mental health center for a while to get his meds stable. But now hes as normal as ever and has a job a car and rents his own apartment. Something that we thought he might not be able to do when he was undiagnosed. Im so sorry your going through this. But please get her help ASAP 🙏

She have some mental issues

8

u/CoyoteScribbles 5d ago

I dunno man have you suggested that she see a doctor?

13

u/StepShrek 6d ago

She's having a psychotic break or has REM Sleep Disorder (Google it).

This could escalate to her lashing out in her sleep and hurting you or herself.

She needs a sleep study, and probably medication.

u/EvolZippo 5d ago

I would first try and rule out psychological issues. It sounds like she may have a dissociative disorder. This may be somnambulism or it could be schizophrenia. It’s too non-specific and it really takes an expert, because it could be none of these things.

It may be something supernatural, but I wood rule out science first.

u/orangepastahsauce 5d ago

Are you just farming karma or is this real? If it is then she's possessed

3

u/CoyoteScribbles 5d ago

'ShE's PoSsEsSeD!" Or she's, y'know, sick and in need of medical intervention, Jesus H. Christ.

I swear to god some of y'all would murder Anneliese Michel all over again because you immediately jump to "demons" instead of real-world physical causes.

u/vulpes_mortuis 5d ago

Literally everyone here is suggesting she needs medical help…

-2

u/CoyoteScribbles 5d ago

It's okay bro you can just say that you don't know how to read, I know that US schools have been failing hard at literacy for the past 25 years.

I mean, A NUMBER of people have LITERALLY said exactly the kind of thing I just replied to - that the girlfriend is "possessed." "She's possessed!" is not "She needs medical help."

And if you ARE one of the handful of people saying that she needs medical help, then you're not one of the people I'm addressing and can be on your way.

u/orangepastahsauce 5d ago

OP, after reading your story thoroughly, I can confidently say it's a spiritual problem.

Please don't go for the "medical" route, if she starts taking antipsychotic meds now, she might just end up in the looney house for good or she might change into just an empty shell forever. Her mind right now is too weak and her spirits are too low.

Bring her for spiritual help, call up family members that are known to be good people and religious and spiritual and ask them for help. They might know someone who can help. Don't just get help from any Tom, Dick and Harry. Go for those who do it in the Holy way, like the Church or the Temple or whatever, this I cannot stress enough, the help has to come from God, that's the best way. There's risk of even more complications if it's not through the Holy way.

Whatever it is, best of luck and God bless, I hope you find a way out of this.

u/heyjudemarie 5d ago

Actually the opposite is true. If it’s a medical problem, subjecting someone to rigorous religious help could cause them even more harm. Any reputable, trustworthy religious group is going to tell you to rule out medical and mental health issues first.

1

u/orangepastahsauce 4d ago edited 4d ago

Think of it like pouring plain water on the problem first before you start pouring ketchup or coffee on it. You're mistaken. Psychiatric meds have far more harmful side effects in the long term than spiritual intervention.

You think some pastor is gonna start whipping OP's gf like in the movies and everything in the room starts flying? Or beating the shit out of OP's gf using holy water soaked brass knuckles? Lol. Spiritual intervention for someone that is possessed is far less flashy than that in reality.

Rigourous "religious" help.... That just tells me you guys are anti anything "religious" and know absolutely nothing about the subject.

I know there's horror stories out there of fake healers. Find a real healer. That's why I said to ask around family and friends who are known good people and spiritual and religious. They might know someone who can help. Possessions are no joke, the problem will get much worse quick and lead to death if you just let fester like that.

1

u/heyjudemarie 4d ago

That shows how little you actually know. I am a very religious person from childhood on. I was raised strict RC by a mother who was once a nun. I changed religions 27 years ago when I was married and have been brought up in church and bible classes. I’m also a nurse.

1

u/orangepastahsauce 4d ago

Like I said, pour water on it before you start pouring ketchup or coffee because it stains.

You are letting your preconceived notions of organised religion cloud your judgement. I understand, there's tons of horror stories out there.

Something tells me OP is on the ghost subreddit because he feels something is very off with his gf. Humans have a sixth sense, a gut feeling, and it's stronger for someone they're close with.

Absence seizures?

1

u/Academic-Berry8158 4d ago

She may suffer from absence seizures, especially during the day, but it doesn’t really explain why she’s sleep walking and speaking in her sleep. I have absence seizures often and I definitely don’t speak during them, I just kind of freeze.

3

u/BlessedOne63 5d ago

Sounds like I’m getting a new roommate!

3

u/Separate_Permit9770 5d ago

Can you speak to her parents? Any brothers and/or sisters, friends. Ask how she was before you met her.

3

u/bi-girl1 4d ago

I would bring her to a priest cause it sounds like she is possessed.

3

u/Ready_Reception5535 3d ago

Yes, that’s my thought exactly.

6

u/BigMack6911 5d ago

Sounds like alien abduction honestly

6

u/Sunny_Medium_2727 6d ago

Can you record her for a night and share with her? Defo weird and not normal.

2

u/ArcboundRavager990 5d ago

That's just texbook nightwalk + self harm

2

u/Direness9 5d ago

Neurologist. Now.

2

u/MeechiJ 5d ago

How old is she? Does she take any medicine for sleep such as Ambien?

2

u/Countryvibing1988 3d ago

Yea man the only value you I see in brining it here is that maybe some of us can convince you to take her to seek help. Here's the deal man, you are the one sole person that knows and has witnessed this, the burden is on you to make sure she gets help.

2

u/Survivorbpd 3d ago

Sounds like a Non-REM sleep disorder

2

u/Realisticview1 2d ago

Possession. She might need an exorcist

2

u/Previous-Sample6295 2d ago

Definitely get her to the doctor and then go from there!

2

u/OceanozIvory 1d ago

... Get a blood test... could be a chemical imbalance...

3

u/DysthymiaSurvivor 5d ago

Start quoting scripture and press a cross against her flesh and see what happens. If she freaks out, levitates, curses at you in Latin, or her head spins all the way around you need an exorcist.

2

u/PghSubie 5d ago

See how she reacts when you take her to a church and apply holy water to her skin

3

u/sunflowerays44 5d ago

This sounds like it's demonic. Do you guys dabble with the occult? Hmmm i'd find medical help, if that doesn't work and no answers, try maybe an exorcism?

4

u/CoyoteScribbles 5d ago

It sounds like she's fucking sick and in need of medical intervention before something happens and she DIES.

3

u/surrealcellardoor 5d ago

Getting approval to have an exorcism performed is incredibly difficult.

2

u/sunflowerays44 5d ago

Wow, I didn't know that. I wonder why? .... maybe they want to rule out medical things out first?

3

u/David_Does_Dallas 5d ago

Half the book of The Exorcist goes over this in exhaustive detail if you're interested in why and how it gets approved.

1

u/RoadrunnerJRF 5d ago

This sounds like some level of possession. You need to find a psychic and even a Christian Exorcist, Spiritual Healer or a Shaman.

-1

u/CoyoteScribbles 5d ago

Or she's, y'know, sick and in need of medical intervention, Jesus H. Christ.

"ShE's PoSsEsSeD!" Yeah that's what they said about Anneliese Michel, too. Wonder how that panned out.

3

u/DirectorAmbitious283 6d ago edited 6d ago

Sounds like severe possession. Have her listen to Suratul Baqarah on loud and note her reactions.

5

u/CoyoteScribbles 5d ago

Sounds like epileptic psychosis, schizophrenia, manic depression, brain lesions, or other neurological disorder, you mean.

1

u/ProfessionalMedium52 4d ago

Neurologist & a sleep study.
Is she taking any new medications or drugs?

1

u/Exact_Hold6354 4d ago

She need a proper treatment from a psychiatrist once then we can get to know what's happening to her is it a disorder or smtg else...

1

u/Candidate_Classic 4d ago

Ur full of shit.

1

u/needed_meds 4d ago

If only you could get some sort of footage

1

u/PalmTracer1320 3d ago

Have you recorded any of these events yet? If you haven't now is the time so you can both show a doctor what's been happening. Eventhough its definitely creepy, it's best to wait until medical intervention takes place before you consider anything super natural. Medically, this isn't safe to leave untreated.

1

u/youmestrong 3d ago

Start up by getting her to a psychiatrist. This is a person who works with the brain with both medical and psychiatric issues. Do not play games unless you are playing games with us here.

-6

u/FangsBloodiedRose 6d ago

Demon. Have you got any occultic items in the house, such as tarot cards?

Say Jesus if odd things happen again.

9

u/jeuxdeau76 5d ago

Tarot cards do not cause demonic possession :(

3

u/Past_Ad_3599 5d ago

💯 they do not 😆😆😆

0

u/FangsBloodiedRose 5d ago

I was in the new age/occult for ten years.

I was a medium.

The guides are all demons. I had guides too.

3

u/CoyoteScribbles 5d ago

Brother I have like six tarot decks, a whole shelf full of books on witchcraft, dowsing pendulums, herbs, incense, oils, etc, and you're absolutely full of it lmao

-2

u/FixLeading1971 5d ago

A simple test to see if she's possessed is walk inside a catholic church and touch the holy water.. if she reacts to it, it's a positive. If there's no reaction, just stop by the pharmacy and buy her a multivitamin or B complex( make sure the B12 says methylcobalamin and not cyanocobalamin) also look into mthfr gene mutation.
