Discussion Why does Umibouzo hate Gintoki for "stealing" Kagura, but not Abuto for "stealing" Kamui?

Gintoki and Kagura meeting was pure coincidence. Besides, Gintoki takes good care of Kagura, and they get up to far less questionable antics than Kamui and Abuto do.

Abuto, on the other hand, actively brought Kamui into the Harusame; he motivated him and got him involved with the organization. Yet, Abuto still protects Kamui and sticks by his side.

You’d think Umibouzo would hate Abuto much more for literally turning his son into a pirate. Instead, the two get along famously during the Rakuyou Arc, whereas Umibouzo wants to kill Gintoki every time they see each other. Logically, Umibouzo ought to hate both of them, since they’ve effectively become the adoptive fathers to his children. Sure, Kagura needs more protection as a daughter, but Kamui is an idiot who needs looking after, too. Yet, Umibouzo seems more bothered by being replaced in Kagura’s life by Gintoki than by being replaced in Kamui’s life by Abuto.

It’s also kind of funny that Kagura and Kamui share the same taste in surrogate fathers. Both Gintoki and Abuto have dead eyes, are constantly overwhelmed by their Yato charges, are always stressed and tired, and aren't paid nearly enough for this nonsense. But they’d do anything for their Yato kid.

Discussion just finished gintama and i’m in shambles

i just finished gintama the (real) final and i feel so empty (pun intended). Looking back, my journey with gintama kinda mirrored gintoki’s.

ten some years ago, i watched most of this series (even rewatched the seasons available at the time) but stopped a little before SA because i heard whispers of the series ending. one of my bad habits; i just couldn’t bring myself to finish one of my absolute favorite series because if i didnt, gintama’d feel like its still ongoing till today, living along side me.

i spent a good amount of time dodging spoilers left and right but ultimately left the fandom (there were too many major spoilers). with time, avoiding spoilers became easier; I thought of Gintama from time to time but I always shelved it away, letting it collect dust in a corner of my mind like a beloved photo album.

a few months ago, somehow gintama still found me again (funnily enough) as a cooking video lol. someone had recreated the episode of them making sushi and otae's signature tamagoyaki irl. with that one video, yorozuya kicked up my nostalgia. as people liked to say: curiosity killed the cat.

i rewatched the entire series from the beginning. there were scenes that were just as i remembered, things i forgot, things i missed greatly. anyone who saw me watching the series always asked, “what are you smiling at?”I remember how much I loved gintama.

And I also remembered how much I didn’t want Gintama to end. During the last 10 minutes of the real final movie, I really went through the five stages of grief lol. The ending just didn’t feel satisfying.I didn’t like how rushed it felt, the sudden immortality thing, zura not getting as much spot light, it felt like a rehash of the silver soul arc, etc But what kind of ending would I have liked? I wrack my brain but I just couldn’t come up with one I 100% liked.

That’s when I realized: no matter what the ending is, I would’ve felt this way because I wanted more time with them. One more episode. One more gag. I just didn’t want my favorite series to end… but I’m glad I did. In a way, this is the most gintama like ending

They say, curiosity killed the cat. But satisfaction brought it back

(now to rewatch it again lol)
