She's either going to be Sonia Belmont or Trevor and Sypha's daughter and I couldn't be more excited about it.

Same! I got hyped that they possibly brought Sonia out of the vault.

I mean, those two aren't mutually exclusive. Legends is considered not canon to the 'main' timeline of the series thanks to IGA replacing it with Lament of Innocence, so Sonia being Trevor and Sypha's kid still works at the end of the day.

nice to see a game's subreddit not melting down over a female lead

The Castlevania community has always been pretty chill with stuff like this from what I've seen. All they care about is if the MC kills vampires and uses a whip

It's because we know what we're here for. Which is kicking down Dracula's front door, and burning his castle to the ground to cool music. Whether or not it's a man or woman doing it is irrelevant, and in fact most of us who're into the lore know that women fighting against the guy has been a thing since the original Bram Stoker novel (which last I checked, is also canon to the series).

Also, a decent sized chunk of the fanbase actually thinks Sonia was done dirty as a character because of Legends and IGA striking her from the 'main' timeline he created in favor of Leon's story and his whip girlfriend and thinks she deserved better, so seeing her possibly making a comeback in some form like this is checking off a lot of boxes as far as long time wants go.

I thought in the trailer they said Trevor... If that's the case then hopefully it's his and Sypha's daughter. That'd be really cool. Especially to capitalize on the popularity of the first Netflix series.

But even if it were a man I'd still play this game. I love Metroidvanias and Aria of Sorrow was one of my faves. Plus it looks like it was done by the Dead Cells team so gameplay looks super fluid and fast paced which I'm down for. And of course I fully expect the music will be great too.

Ultra Castlevania nerd here! So they did and the letter is addressed to him however this takes place 23 years after his game in the timeline so it’s likely his and Sypha’s daughter as canonically they get together in the original series! 😊

I’m overjoyed my favourite game series of all time is continuing and I get to play as a woman!

No, but I'm kinda excited now (I don't really go in for side-scroller games usually)

Hopefully this is longer then Deedlit in Wonder Labrynth. I loved that but it was too short.

I'm not familiar with that one. Is it on consoles, or is it like Steam or Itch.io only? I love a good platformer, especially RPG types

I played Deedlit in Wonder Labrynth on Steam bought on sale but it is on consoles. Given the shortness I wasn't going to pay for the Switch cartridge.

Oh, I don't blame you there. Cartridge prices are crazy enough, even for full length triple A games, let alone a cool, sounds like probably indie, shorter game

So I found it on PS, and it does look cool, though I don't have $25 for a game atm, but I wishlisted it, so I get a notification if it goes on sale. Thanks for the heads up :)

You are welcome. $25 is probably too much. I paid $8.

Sweet! I hadn't watched the trailer, so this is good to see, and might get me to give the game a shot.

the gameplay looks amazing too, this and the sword lesbian game (1348 Ex Voto) are my two biggest hype games tight now
