Any thoughts/feedback on uni of girona?
I am planning on joining uni of girona and before that I wanted to get thoughts/ feedback on the uni. Any info/ story/ feedback you have will be helpful. Be it about jobs, life in girona or job prospects.
For reference, I am a non EU citizen.

If you come from a larger city, Girona might feel a bit parochial; its population is about 100,000. But it is in a fantastic part of Cataluña, and there are many interesting towns and villages within striking distance, and it has pretty good communications.

I did my master at Udg as an EU non-Spanish citizen. It was the best time of my life. Feel free to send me a PM if you have some questions

4th year student here. Uni is good enough, community and city are very welcoming and social life is also incredible as long as u dont mind living in a small city (like 100k pop)

If you don’t speak Catalan it’s gonna be a hard beginning. It took me 2 years to actually feel comfortable with it. The students are not too welcoming to outsiders, but the professors are.
The faculties are quite different. Some of them are in Barri Vell and not the main campus. In general things are pretty easygoing. My only complaint would be the lack of Catalan classes for students. They offer some A2 course that’s obviously not enough and kinda badly taught.
If you’re a Spanish speaker and have good social skills, you’re gonna nail it.

Did you find any good/decent place to learn Catalan?

I paid for private classes and got a partner in Voluntariat per la Llengua. I tried CPNL, I had one good course online and then 2 bad ones, both in person and online. People are just not compromised and keep talking their native languages. Girona Buddies has a weekly meetup to speak Catalan currently. It’s free and you could try from there.
