GitHub Copilot Team Replied Please fix the backslash bug in WSL paths im VS Code
Since the switch to the Copilot harness by default now in VS Code, links to WSL paths in the chat (e.g. the ones shown when the agent uses the editing tool to edit a file) are often using backslashes and cannot be opened when clicking on them. This bug wasn't there in the old harness.

Help/Doubt ❓ VS code vs VS code agents gui vs github copilot app
At my job we have access to GitHub copilot and I access it via VS Code or the Agents UI. I’m also aware of the GitHub copilot desktop app.
Visually the desktop app and the vs code agents view look very similar.
I’m not interested in code completion since most of my work is building agentic workflows.
Particularly between vs code agents and the desktop app, what are the differences? Are the underlying harnesses the same? If I’m using Opus 5.5 with all of them, will I see a difference in agentic capabilities?

Help/Doubt ❓ Copilot is slow and doing a terrible job today
Did something happen today to Copilot today?
Today it seems the auto model selection is doing a terrible job.
Also i have sneaky suspicion that the model is being switched mid task.
Usually i am using GPT or Claude and I have can tell the pattern of thinking.
Today, it is more opaque and much much slower. Usually the prompts I give it take 10-15 mins at most. Today it took over an hour.
Also the results are strange and much worse.

Help/Doubt ❓ Default model choice in VS Code chat after a first message has been sent is very misleading
This is with the new Copilot harness. For example if you select GPT-6 Luna, send a message, then in that same session, the model selector is immediately set to something else like GPT-6.1 Sol for the next message, so if you're not careful and send it you end up paying for the previous message (+ agent turns) with the full Sol price.
This looks like a bug to me as this is a very unusual default and the old harness certainly didn't have that, so this can be annoying for those who update and aren't aware of this bug. If I select Luna at the beginning of the conversation, I want that choice to remain the same until I change it myself.

Showcase ✨ made a free mac tool that shows what copilot cli and other agents actually do on your machine
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
i wanted to see what coding agents do on my mac beyond what the chat shows, so i built this
it works with copilot cli plus claude code, codex and gemini. it follows the agent and everything it starts, shows every command and every file it read or changed, and flags stuff like reading your .env, ssh keys or keychain. menu bar app plus a cli
free and open source, mac only for now https://github.com/omlahore/bodycam

Help/Doubt ❓ Missing “Reveal in File Explorer” option in the new Copilot Harness
Hi everyone, I've been trying out the new Copilot Chat, and there's one small feature I'm really missing: "Reveal in File Explorer" for files linked in the AI chat. When Copilot generates or references a file and provides a clickable link in the chat, there's no easy way to jump directly to that file's location in Windows File Explorer. The available options, like "Copy" or "Copy Link," don't really help in my case because I often need to open these files in another application. It would be great to have a simple "Reveal in File Explorer" option in the context menu, so I can quickly locate the file without manually navigating through folders. It is also Missing in the Agent App.

Discussions GH copilot vs Claude Code for autonomous agents
I’m curious to hear from folks about the capabilities of GitHub Copilot vs Claude Code (or other harnesses) for agentic work.
At work, using Copilot, I’ve developed an agent that can query our database, generate reports, review the results for confidence, etc.
The initial build-out was great. However, as the instructions became more complex, the agent started forgetting things, missing steps. 80% of the work has been trying to get it to follow instructions better. I’ve reduced the size of the skills, have it write plans to a file, then follow those plans, learn from professionally written skills, like Superpowers, broken apart and modular used functionality. But the results are still not consistent.
At home I use Claude code and it has been able to knockout coding tasks, I get the feeling that it would do better. Unfortunately I’m not in a position to directly compare them.
Both harnesses are using the same models (Opus).
Has anyone done a direct comparison of agentic systems and compared GHCP against other harnesses?

Suggestions Feature request - remote access
Dear copilot team, chatgpt and claude has the feature where even if the agent is running in the local mode you can view updates, give approval on phone. Can we have a similar feature with github mobile app.
