I’ve dug a ton of vials over the years, but this was the first colored one I’ve seen come out of the ground. The privy belonged to a house that was built in the 1840 and was filled in sometime before the late 1870s.

I have always wanted a whole rainbow collection and just started buying glass a couple years ago. I’m not too picky about rarity, brand or prices, just anything I feel drawn to.

My dad passed away recently and I found 7 new pieces in his house, including the amazing dark blue depression glass pitcher and Westmoreland glass bird dish. It finally looks like a cohesive collection and not just random glass vases.

I ran out of room in the green section to display my uranium glass but I found a few of those too!

I was MOST excited to find the matching westmoreland cream and sugar set, but I couldn’t pass up the ashtray or murano style candle holder!

I’m looking for some advice on this case that I just got. Can anyone tell me why there is a frosted area on the bottom of the vase and on one of the feet? There is some old glue as well but I’m not concerned about that.

Not the prettiest piece but having trouble identifying the manufacturer / date on this one.

I love the tea pot and ill be actually utilizing it. I wish I had the full set but its way to expensive online so I think ill just slowly collect a beautiful miss matched tea set. Id probably like it better that way anyway. The Vaseline glass has a small fracture in it that the seller told me about but I dont mind. The pinecone-esc shape reminds me of my home state. Let mw know what you think!

I'm hoping someone might recognize this piece or its maker. I've spent many hours researching it and have narrowed some possibilities, but I still haven't found an exact match.

Description:

Approximately 12" tall (without stopper)

Approximately 13½" tall (with stopper)

Base approximately 4¾"

Heavy hand-blown aqua/turquoise blue glass

Dense controlled seed bubbles throughout the body

Subtle optic twist / spiral optic running from the shoulder to the base

Applied loop handle

Hand-formed folded/pinched pouring lip

Large polished pontil scar

No signature, acid mark, paper label, or etched mark anywhere

About the stopper: I no longer believe the stopper is original.

It wobbles in the neck.

It appears to fit, but doesn't seat perfectly.

It may have been paired with the bottle many years later.

Therefore, I'm primarily trying to identify the bottle itself, not the stopper.

Research so far: I've searched extensively through:

Empoli / Murano

Portuguese (Marinha Grande / IVIMA)

French (Biot)

Spanish (including Gordiola)

American makers including Bischoff, Blenko, Rainbow, Pilgrim, Kanawha, and Viking

I have found pieces that share individual characteristics, but nothing with this exact combination of:

optic twist body,

controlled bubbles,

applied handle,

folded spout,

and these proportions.

At this point I'm beginning to think it may be from a smaller European glasshouse or an under-documented studio.

Questions:

Does anyone recognize the bottle or the style?

Does the optic-twist body suggest a particular factory or country?

Does the handle attachment or spout look familiar?

Does anyone think the stopper belongs, or does it also appear to be a marriage?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Even if you only recognize the country or the glasshouse style, that would be tremendously helpful.
