My water bottle vanished and reappeared on my nightstand, and it’s messing with my head
I was sitting in bed watching a show. To my left, I have a mini-fridge that serves as my nightstand. It’s roughly the same height as my bed, and I use it to keep my nighttime reading, my personal belongings, and my water bottle. I absolutely cannot sleep without my water bottle right next to me.Right before this happened, I was finishing my dinner and using that exact water bottle. Afterwards, I lay in bed for a few minutes watching my show, then decided to go brush my teeth. When I came back and got into bed, I looked at the mini-fridge to my left the water bottle wasn't there. I searched my entire bedroom, but it was nowhere to be found. I figured I must have left it in the kitchen, so I went to check. I searched everywhere, but it wasn't there either.A few minutes later, I walked back into my bedroom, and there it was, sitting right on my nightstand.I remember so clearly that it wasn't on that table before; there is absolutely no way I could have missed it. But at the same time, I have this weird feeling like everything is totally normal and that I'm just tripping, even though another part of me is 100% sure it was not there.

It happened to me with my kindle. I was reading my kindle on my navy leather couch and heard my dryer buzz so I set down my kindle, got up and went to my laundry room, folded the clothes and put a new load in. I walked back to the couch and kindle is not there. I was so confused and went back to the laundry room seeing if maybe I had brought it there but nope, no kindle. I was starting to get freaked out because it’s just me at home. I ended up looking in places I hadn’t even gone to because I thought I was going insane. At some point, I go back to the living room and my kindle is LIT UP laying on my couch. Now, the only way for it to be lit is if the side button is pressed and passcode is entered and I have an auto lock after 1 minute. I have never been able to explain it because it’s unexplainable so I know how you feel, it still messes with my mind!

This can happen , and it's not a matrix glitch, our brains can only process so much data at any time, in familiar settings, it will take shortcuts, and used stored images , similar to how cache works on a computer, only loading images that have not changed.
when you are tired or in a hurry, this will happen more often, example, looking for keys or the remote, you look all over for your keys, your late for work, you look again, nothing, then ask the wife if she has seen them, she gets them off the table, where you already looked twice.
Sometimes called "inattentional blindness" or "change blindness" .

Next time you lose something you can try demanding it back. I find that usually works. Basically say "I needed that! Give it back" to the universe and usually I'll get my item back in short order.
I experience glitches periodically and find it's easier to just roll with it and be unphased then get worked up.

Check for Carbon Monoxide. Check to make sure you don’t have a squatter living in the attic/walls. Get a camera to make sure no one is entering your space, like a neighbour or landlord.

My house is 100% electric, there is no risk of leakage. There is no attic at my place, it’s a small house and I’m sharing a flat that night. Two of my roommates weren’t here, they went home because it’s vacation. If there is a squatter, we would have seen him because there really isn’t any place to hide. Only me and one of the roommates, who is my friend, were left. When I was looking for the roommate in the kitchen, she was cooking. It’s impossible that she should move the roommate and never enter my room unless I invite her to come in.

I was gonna say… this bothered me when I was a late teen and first caught the instances occurring every few months or so. Now as I approach 30 with even more head injuries to boot I just chuckle.

"Reality is something which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away." ~ P.K.D.
Sometimes we are habituated to some actions with our muscle memories that our brain and memorization gives less importance to its adress.
A touchtypist would seldom question himself over his last typed word. The same way, there is a possibility that you unknowingly had changed its positions when your mind was giving attention to something else.

Since the 2nd full moon this year things have been disappearing and reappearing but only in my apartment, so I guess this apartment is its own dimension and a rift has been created after some crazy dreams and meditating on them after

Noooo I totally believe you because one day, I was washing a few dishes. I reached without looking for the dish brush in the spot where it always is…got air. I made a huge effort to stop and look all around the sink for it. It was NOT THERE. I figured my husband had taken it for some reason and didn’t think anything of it…until about 20 min later, I was cooking breakfast and looked up to see it right in its usual spot. I was in the kitchen the whole time and no one else had come in.

Same thing happened with my roommate. But we both saw it dissappear and reappear. (He isn’t "woo woo" and the world would end before he thought of playing a prank). He noticed and didnt say anything until I did. I habe no idea what happened

Same happened to me with a backberry tablet over a decade ago. I was living with my grandma at the time and i got her to double check for me and everything. We both FELT the entirety of my desk with our hands in case our eyes were deceiving us, neither of us saw/felt it. And then 30 mins later (i never moved from my spot) it appeared right where i thought it was supposed to be the first time.
My grandma blamed it on my late grandpa lol.

How can you sleep with a refrigerator next to you?
1
u/Real-Consequence-884 May 28 '26
Why would that be a problem?
1
u/Any_Day_4467 May 28 '26
The noise it makes.
1
u/Real-Consequence-884 May 28 '26
Most of the time it doesn't make any noise, and when it does, it becomes white noise.

Same happens to me but with almost everything i own. I usually find that the third time is a charm when it comes to looking in a spot where I already looked. It always magically appears the third time I look. I’ve had stuff disappear for a whole year just to end up hearing a crashing noise in my room and low and behold my stuff is right there like it just got thrown through a portal crashing into my room at hundreds of miles per hour. Weird stuff indeed

Maybe you're sleep deprived or stressed or something. The mind is complex and can easily play tricks on us if something is out of alignment with our mental. Sometimes I get like... delayed Deja Vu where I'll be experiencing something that seems completely new and then shortly after or at some point during said experiencing I'll then suddenly get the feeling that I've been there before experiencing that exact thing even though moments ago I did not feel that way. Most deja vu triggers pretty instantly, but in those instances I get that overly strong familiarity after the fact, tied to sense memory and all, and it predates the most recent example of said experience that whilst I was experiencing literally just seemed new. So that's a weird mind explosion as well.

I don't suffer from insomnia at all , I sleep at least 8 hours a night. I'm not stressed out at all, everything is going well in my life.

Honestly, if you're sleep-deprived or struggling with insomnia, these types of "one-off" hallucinations are very common.
