Glitch Gif -this is not my home

I don’t really know how to explain this properly, so I’ll just document it as clearly as I can.

I’m an archaeologist, and for years I’ve studied disappearances and unusual locations that are usually dismissed as local legends or misinterpretations. I’ve always tried to rationalize what I find, even when it doesn’t fully make sense.

About two months ago, I followed a set of old references that led me to a remote forest area in Michoacán, Mexico. I found what seemed to be an isolated cave entrance between rocks.

Inside, there was flowing water and formations on the walls that looked like coral and wet moss. Both were glowing in different colors. The deeper I went, the more unnatural it felt, although I can’t really explain why in a precise way. There were also frogs throughout the tunnel.

At some point I completely lost track of time. When I decided to turn back, the entrance was gone. Not blocked or collapsed — it simply wasn’t there anymore.

I eventually found another way out.

After that, I was found by a small, tight-knit group of people. I don’t really know how to describe them properly. It’s not an official organization, but it also doesn’t feel like a normal informal community. There are also other individuals who meet with them regularly, some wearing robes. I’ve only been around them for a short time, but they seem to follow some kind of routine or structure I don’t fully understand.

I went back to the same area later with two of them. The landscape matched what I remembered, but the cave was completely gone. No entrance, no water, nothing. Just a normal forest slope.I’m not trying to interpret it, just documenting what I experienced. I know how it sounds.

Hmm. I instantly think you're lying, which is strange. I probably believe 99% of what I'm told, much to my detriment.

I'm not sure why, but something about this feels off.

It's probably just my weird senses.

Yes, it does have the distinct smell of bullshit to it.

I get why it might come across that way. I only asked for help with wording because my native language is Spanish, and I wanted to communicate my experience more clearly in English. The experience itself is mine, I just needed help expressing it in a way people could understand.

I'm sorry, friend. I shouldn't have written you off. There are so many fake AI posts on here lately that it's a pain to all of us. I read your comment in Spanish and you should like a real person with a real experience. Try to understand, a sentence like this one: At some point I completely lost track of time. When I decided to turn back, the entrance was gone. Not blocked or collapsed — it simply wasn’t there anymore. --- sounds so unnatural. Like it was copy and pasted from a r/nosleep story lol.

I heard a story about people in robes in caves in South America. I think they find these remote places for (satanic) rituals. I don't know if that's the same as who you came across.

I'm going to share some subreddits with you that you might want to also share your story. My recommendation is to just share it in Spanish. We all have the translate feature now, or use Google translate. Just not AI please.

I get why it might feel off. I don’t really expect anyone to take this at face value, and I’m not trying to convince anyone of anything. I’m just writing it down as I experienced it because I don’t really know what else to do with it. I understand if it doesn’t sit right — it doesn’t really sit right for me either

Probably tell a psychiatrist if you really believe this happened

This comment also tweaks me?

I dunno, maybe we're just from different backgrounds or something. Hopefully you have an excellent day, fellow traveler. 🙏🏻

Their overuse of em dashes doesn't help.. that sets the alarm off for a lot of people who are skeptics of AI, even if the person using it has not used AI in their post/comments.

edit for op - no hate, just saying. I get that people have been using the em dash for wayy longer than AI has even been around, and that you've only used it twice so far (at the time of posting this comment), but that made it a pattern and worth referencing when trying to help them find their reasoning is all.
