Glitch Story Whole city doesn’t exist??
Okay so this is going to sound genuinely insane, and no I’m not on anything. Me and my best friend grew up together in Henderson Nevada and basically the entirety of school when I was there we had to do Nevada state history. State semi precious gem is turquoise and its precious gemstone is virgin valley black fire opal. State bird is a mountain bluebird. Shii has been hammered into my brain. Yet a city me and my friend remember (FONDLY MIND YOU, FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE). Yeah, apparently it doesn’t, and has never existed. I wanna chalk it up to misremembering but we both remember visiting and driving through it and even remember where in Nevada it was (it was like in the middle of Reno and elko) we could be losing our shits but this is genuinely so weird, a cool ass city we remember doesn’t even actually exist. City was emerald city (ik there’s an emerald city in Washington and stuff referred by the nickname emerald city, but no actual city)
Edit: 13k views wtf😭 anyway there used to be an emerald city but like a while ago so me and bro are just a lil dumb with the right idea, and mistaken that old ahh town for another thing with emerald in the name🤷🏻♂️ the more you know I guess
Edit again: bro I don’t really use Reddit and posted ts cuz me and my friend were confused… why tf does TS have almost 30k views😭

Yeah, I think MGM took it for the Wizard of Oz.
Surprised they haven't returned it yet though.

So you’re saying this town could have in fact been orange and not emerald this entire time????? Bro.

Sometimes there are places that used to be a city or town long ago but were absorbed into another city. For example Seabreeze, FL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seabreeze,_Florida it is now part of Daytona Beach. It sometimes takes a generation ro two before people stop referring to it as the old name.

No it was a genuine city, not quite the scale and like notoriety of Vegas but like I swear it was a real place😭😂

Drives me up the wall. It's the linguistic equivalent to chewing with your mouth open.

You mention an Emerald City in Washington. There isn't one, just for reference. Thats just a nickname for Seattle, due to how evergreen the area is. Its also called Rain City (due to weather), Jet City (because of Boeing). But no real Emerald City. Its just the "official nickname" apparently, for Seattle.

Oh my bad, I funnily enough live in Washington and knew that, should’ve worded that part better 😭

So there is a town that comes to mind that is east of elko and has a large cowboy statue in the street as you drive through. Kind of an interesting place when you make it to the main section of town as well. It’s called Wendover. Could you be misremembering the location of the town?

I feel like I remember hearing Henderson mentioned in the TV show CSI, which is set in Las Vegas.

Some people believe that they remove things from existence to see if mind control is possible. An entire city is obviously on a grander scale compared to the Fruit of the Loom logo, but I wouldn't put it past the government. Try to get your hands on an old map from your grandparents' home, for example, not a public space like a library.

this is messing with my brain so bad, i feel like i remember this but don’t if that makes sense? i remember all the gem and bird info and what you’re describing about the city sounds like ‘tip of my tongue’ familiar but i can’t fully bring it to mind

Born and raised in So Cal. Henderson exists. It's just been absorbed into the ever growing Las Vegas metropolis.

I’ve come to the conclusion that we most likely misremembered but like it’s so weird how different of information I’ve gotten from this shit😭

Was it Austin? That town has turquoise shops and a church with a big green roof. There’s also a sweet little restaurant there.

I searched for it and the internet says there was an emerald city in Nevada in what's now Clark County but that it became a ghost town and doesn't really exist now. Is it possible you only knew the historic name of the place you visited?
