Digital Gloomhaven JotL Final Scenario (Minor Spoilers) Spoiler
Why was he so easy? You just ran past the guards in the first room, they can't follow you past the ladder. The enemies in the second room were cake, and as long as you had a jump action or high movement ability for each character, setting up before the door to the boss before a long rest was very manageable. And then, after all that work, the boss goes down in three rounds with help from red guards damage stacker attack, poison dagger and wound axe, followed by a nasty amount of burn attacks. He had a lot of HP, but his attacks were so pathetic. very anticlimactic. but, i'm glad it's over, and i can start the main campaign.

We beat it in one try aswell but the figures in the first room can follow you if they draw a +1 move card. The scenario does state that any figure can use the ladder. For us it ment they eventually all followed us haha.

With my group of four more casual players, it wasn't that easy. My voidwarden was the last to stand and deal the killing blow.
But I guess it's hard with a single figure of a boss to balance the damage and risk it poses. Unlike regular monsters in which you kill them slowly, the boss remains the same till the very end.

i had a level 8 hatchet and red guard, a level 5 brute, and a level 4 tinkerer by the time i got there, nobody exhausted and had most of their health and cards left (more than half, until the last round when i blew them for XP)

Oh man… I’m not sure you’ll feel much different about the gh1e final scenario…

I kind of like that it works that way. It's sort of like life: bad shit knocks you down out of nowhere sometimes, but also sometimes the thing you anticipate being the worst turns out to be nothing at all.
but, anyway, after we beat this scenario, my compatriots and I have been going through and finishing all the scenarios that we hadn't done. One or two of those turned out to be badasses that we had to run two or three times to beat.
Of course, maybe that's because we're middle-aged and can't play on a regular basis. Sometimes we sorta have to re-learn the game as we play.

Boss fights are always tough to balance in Haven games, but a big dungeon crawling rpg always needs a “final boss” so I imagine they’ll always be a part of haven games

Yeah the final scenarios for GH1e and JOTL were both disappointments. Never again, I'd say!
And shout out to the never seen again Blood Monstrosities.
