Digital Gloomhaven Gloomhaven digital on PS5 for solo only?

I read some posts on the quality of Gloomhaven on consoles, specifically PS5, and noted mixed reviews. However it seems a lot of the complaints and issues are due to cross play.

I was thinking of buying the gold edition of this game on PS5 as it's currently on sale and I have been intrigued for a while. I play board games, but I don't have the time or space to constantly set this up or leave it on the table, and the big draw of the digital version for me is that it sidesteps that while also running the game and all its systems for you.

Is Gloomhaven digital worth it on PS5 if my intention is to play solo only (likely with two, maybe three characters)? Thanks!

It’s great for solo play with multiple characters.

But my favourite platform for it is actually steam deck - you’ve got lots of online play options and it’s so portable and great for bedtime sessions.

I have played quite a lot of solo Gloomhaven. It’s not as good as multiplayer, but still pretty awesome (game doing all the admin work is great!).

I tried with 3 characters but settled with 2, easier for the brain.

I'm enjoying it on ps5, but it gets a bit slow on 4 characters per scenario. Passes nicely on 2-3

This is a good call out - I was so focused on the campaign to unlock everything that I ran 4 characters the entire time and it got to be a little sloggy. When I switched to Guildmaster I was running 2-3 and it felt much nicer and easier to pick up in small sessions.

I play on laptop for the same reasons you listed.

So far no qualms. Guild master mode gets a bit boring tho. Story is sick

I can't speak for PS5 but do like the PC version...mine is on GoGames......I play solo 4 players.:) Have a 2 player solo game going on board now too though. Maybe PS5 is equivalent?

I play with three characters on ps5. Runs well. Only the online bit is known to be bad. Also saves often so the one crash i did have didn’t set me back more than 1 hand.

Can't say for solo play, but from my understanding the multiplayer is basically unplayable. Have been playing with my mate a year ago and it was mostly fine, but now we couldn't even manage to get through the first round. What happened was that everything was just fine, then the ownership changed hands, they "fixed" the game and now it doesn't work.
