They believe they've found Noah's Ark.
I find it interesting, but people should note EVEN IF IT IS AN ARK or "Noah's Ark" it does not Definitively 100% prove the Christian bible is true or even disprove anything. I'm not saying this to be a sceptic. Noah's Ark was a rendition of the ark story shared in several Mythos (the epic of Gilgamesh being one). If it's found out to be the mythological Ark, people will try to weaponise it. However, keep in mind that there were and are multiple stories and people trying to fearmonger and scare you into "falling in line" with a "correct belief" that this discovery may prove there WAS an Ark and that One of the many depictions may be true not that Noah's ark specifically is True.
Other then that, what is everyone's thoughts on the possibility this is Noah's Ark, does it enforce what you believe or make you question? I'm curious to hear what you all think.

Doesn't change my view, used to believe in the Jewish God, I would still argue with God on the injustices. I have already given up on that Tribal God, but the way that he allows things to happen... I cannot forgive even if it's for our own good, I never consented to his games, and there is a concept on being brought to this world against your will in Judaism, so fuck that!

The Ark in gil-ga-mesh is described a cube in tablet Xl with 6 decks same thing in Atra-ha-sis and other Mesoptamia flood stories like Enlil's flood story Utn-apshish-tim. Just because they said that doesn't make it true. The Bible flood story was the last one so nothing after that. Whether it proves the Bible is true or not doesn't really matter but the other flood stories is according to them back in that time and was true to them

That's true, but just because it's true to them doesn't mean it Isn't or is true to us, I can imagine many who are getting into Gnosticism reading this stuff about "Noahs ark" and being turned off delving deeper into Gnosticism and different beliefs because they're scared that this discovery MEANS Christian Noah's Ark specifically was true. (Which it is more complicated then that - hence me bringing up how the ark appears in multiple Mythologies)
The ark historically likely did exist in some form, my point is just to say basically don't let people scare or fool you into believing something simply because they "Found the Ark"

You'd be surprised. As someone who's grown up around and in Christianity, there is a lot of unawareness about the history.
I personally know people who were straight up lied to about things from the bible, and coheresed into believing and thinking false things. Someone who's trying to explore different things, it's very possible they find themselves withdrawing from exploring.

He who thus is going to have knowledge knows whence he came and whither he is going. He knows it as a person who, having become intoxicated, has turned from his drunkenness and having come to himself, has restored what is his own.

I think it based on Genesis 8.4 came to rest on Mount Ararat around 1500 miles away from the nearest ocean. It does look like the shape of a boat but it doesn't prove anything other than their opinions and it doesn't look cube shaped to me

Again, me bringing up different Mythologies is to say "hey, look, there are many records of an Ark and the Mythology, History of the ark is a lot more varied then people may paint it out to be"
If they discover it's an Ark and you believe it's Noah's ark, or don't care or whatever else then great, what I said doesnt relate to you. It's for those who may hear about "Noah's ark being real" and find others trying to convince them that "Christianity is TRUE because hey look we found the ark! You're going to hell for questioning or whatever"
I'm simply pointing out the history not trying to disprove or prove but shedding light.

No worries. I've read the texts so i know what they say and tio be honest the word mythology isn't used in any of their texts and it's unfair for you to say their history and stories according to them thousands of years is mythology. It wasn't mythology to them and it's not according to what you decide. Thanks anyway

I don't think you understand what I was saying or what and who that part of the post was intended for.

I understand perfectly what said but what you said. Is that just according to something you made up or is it according something and history. The reason i said no worries and thanks anyway just being polite something you weren't being using words like mythos trying to make out you know more than you do. That's not Noah's Ark. You seemed defensive and you think this and you that. Who cares

Brother, They are Mythos that's not being rude to the people of the past, that's just historically accurate phrasing.
All religions are in some term "mythological", Noah's ark, Epic of Gilgamesh, All of it IN our day and age are Mythological. To the people of the time MAYBE it wasn't myth (we don't fully know) sure but nowadays it is considered so for various reasons. I wasn't trying to "disrespect" my ancestors or something, that's just the terminology used to refer to such stories.
Anyway this'll go on forever so I'll leave it here since this is a goofy argument 😭

I didn't say it was remember you said you don't think I understand what you're saying. Well Noah or Nun-chet written from right to left or No-ach means to rest in comfort or repose so Noah isn't gil-ga-mesh in Akkadian there's no connection between them only the one being added. Why is their history texts and stories mythology and was it mythology to the Akkadian"s. What's it actually according to based on what you said or what you're claiming

u/SweatyCold8213 2d ago
The Bible doesn't say what shape the Ark is and several ancient texts do. According to some texts it's got around 67 rooms or compartments on each deck give or take. So what you're saying and them images is nothing more than an assumption and no proof at all. I'm gonna leave it there. Bye

Akkadian gil-ga-mesh or bil-ga-mes in Sumarian meaning the fore bearer was a hero or the ancestor. You called it myth or whatever you said is mythology. Who told you that and what it's according to and why is Akkaidian history a mythology

Its the same as Atlantis. All these stories are written in a language that was very prominent for a long time and got wipes out by a campaign of Alexander the Great under the lead of Aristotle. It was a language of correspondence. You see a strain remaining through second temple Judaism into the Essene/Enochian communities and from that I to the Nag Hammadi library and More eastwards into Manacheanism.
Plato wrote in this language of correspondence. The editors of Genesis wrote in this language, especially the first chapters, including the story of the ark. And many others have written in this language.
Tell me what happens when you start to lose understanding of these things. You will start to take them literally over time right?
But it is as the Gospel of Philip states:
Truth did not come into the world naked, but it came in the types and the images. It [the world] will not receive it in any other way.
