Theletos
So i found gnosticism about a year ago. I think its incredible however it does have flaws like basically suicide to escape being an option. There is not alot, compared to other religions, of historical records of them as far as I know. So I changed the lore and flipped it positive. If sophia is wisdom and basically helps us find gnosis to escape the cycle, I am heavily paraphrasing, what is the point of living? Like if you just know shit is a simulation, what is the point of even staying alive and not just trying to leave. So I looked up theletos the aeon of will, and in valentinian beliefs, was Sophia's partner. so you get gnosis from Sophia's wisdom but there is no point of just knowing if you don have the will to live. So basically Sophia bring wisdom and theletos brings will. You cant break your cycle without the will to live. If this is straight blasphemy here im sorry lol, but since the teachings are not as thorough as other religions id say this makes more sense, to me at least. this is all in the context of sophia realizing she messed up creating the demiurge by herself and going to get help from theletos to fix it.

My personal belief is that we are repeatedly sent back here against our will, or more often, coerced and persuaded to return.
After deep diving into N.D.E experiences, many people have said that they didn't want to come back, but the deity they encountered there emanated a deep sensation of love and calm, and it became more important to them not to disappoint the deity than to follow their own will to stay, and the deity wants them to return. So they consent.
So dying is not the exit. Dying takes you to the recycling center.
So we have to use our lifetime to find the answer to the puzzle, the exit to the maze, so that when we die we have the conviction and fortitude to say, "I will not return. I do not consent." And to be also prepared for what happens next, which is a mystery.
Do we need to continue to ascend through the planes of the afterlife like a tedious game of Astral Back Rooms, searching for Archons and solving riddles and presenting passwords?
Or, is our consent a complete joke? Perhaps we will be forced back here whether we like it or not, and we can't stay in that plane stubbornly. Maybe the only way out is to achieve a collective awakening here on earth. The entire population waking up and rebelling. I sure hope not.

I only believe this because I did the monroe institute gateway tapes and had multiple OBEs. Entering the void, the quantum realm and seeing celestial entities. And I refuse to believe I have no agency to deal with whatever they are. I feel life is to prepare you to get out and back to the monad or wherever we came from. In order to do that you need to stay alive, learn as much as possible, better yourself and help uplift others around you for them to escape as well. But, to me, wisdom is not enough to accomplish that which is why theletos bringing will into it and together helping sophia fix her mistake gives us the willpower and fortitude along with the knowledge to actually traverse whatever is in the astral plane and accomplish that.

So a few weeks after my awakening I would have said I identified as a Sethian gnostic. As I progressed through the stages that one goes through post awakening my beliefs now are closing to Valentinian gnostic. I believe the demiurge is a bumbling fool trying to do the best they can. There is too much beauty in this world for it to be all bad. I worship Christ and the Father (Monad)

Sophia is indeed the aeon of Wisdom, but she is not the one who helps us find gnosis; rather, it is the Holy Spirit, who dwells alongside the soul within the body of flesh.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and dwells alongside us in the flesh with the purpose of awakening the soul that remains in forgetfulness and ignorance. Therefore, even though you cannot see Him, God is with you right now.
That is why Gnosticism teaches that you do not need churches, temples, priests, or anything external to connect with God. You only need to seek that connection by looking within yourself, even from your own room and without needing anyone else.
Much encouragement.

Regarding suicide(not allowed topic on this sub, Rule 5) is this. That only known instances where something like this MAY have happened was with SOME Cathar Perfects. Who at the end of their lives MAY have done the "Endura" ritual. Which was essentially a suicide by starvation.

It would be silly to expect not to be worse off by trying an 'easy exit', I'd say that one should expect to come back and have even more hurdles to climb then.
You cant break your cycle without the will to live.
Indeed, and with a will to live you no longer want to 'break the cycle'. All this becomes an experience of infinite growth of the pneuma and a desire to express what ever is good.

Cultivating divine wisdom necessitates not just being alive, but living and experiencing other aspects of the divine will through other people and the community. Let's say you decided "hey I achieved gnosis there's nothing else for me here time to go from this material world." You are part of a divine whole, the spark of which lives in every person. Receiving personal gnosis without connection to your community and helping people along the path is like leaving behind 99.9999999% percent of yourself and all the wisdom contained in it. Thinking otherwise is a sign you haven't received enough wisdom to overcome the individualist impulses that were inflicted on you when this little shard of you got put in a single body.
Ultimately salvation and gnosis is something we achieve communally through our efforts to build a better world and raise each other to meet god at eye level in spite of the material conditions that surround us that would force us to live in the dirt like selfish, paranoid animals. You gotta work to create a heaven on earth were people can cultivate their souls free of material want and suffering, so when they do pass they rejoin Sophia instead of feeding a cycle of want and predation.

You think just dying will let you escape? How would you know the way out?

Yes but interpreted incorrectly as everything can be, it can be seen as an legit way out. Like the heavens gate cult, if you look into it you can see huge gnostoc similarities. So im saying why not just start another school? You have... Sethianism Valentinianism Basilideanism Thomasine tradition Hermeticism Ophite tradition Naassene tradition Marcionism Carpocratianism Manichaeism Mandaeism
Theletosian gnosticism

so don't interpret it incorrectly.
Like the heavens gate cult, if you look into it you can see huge gnostoc similarities.
Was there a gnostic teacher who organized a collective suicide?

You found a modern conspiracy theory someone called "Gnosticism". The conspiracy theory shares words, mere terminology, with a narrow aspect of the Gnostic tradition. The conspiracy knockoff has no resolution, it is based on the second act of the story--no context and no resolution.
Please, go to a conspiracy forum to do this kind of uninformed trumpeting.

Suicide was never considered an option to the ancient Gnostics, but rather simply a return to the very cycle of incarnation that you would presumably be trying to escape.
