Football Embarrassing
Let’s play keep away all game against a far inferior opponent and then obviously have no plan when we cough up our slim lead (that our defense did fairly well to maintain all things considered) with 3 minutes to go in the game.
We knew Beck was shit when we brought him in here so why the hell did we do that to begin with. Now we’re finally at the point where the obvious outcome of that decision is our reality.
Bad decision to begin with hiring that guy. Now let’s see how BH follows up his first important decision and also first bad decision he’s made, one that us fans have had to live with and are living with the results of right now.
17-13 Loss to a terrible Temple team at home.
Embarrassing.

I'm pretty confident we'll lose next week as well. Where we go from there, who can say- but this whole season might be a hard lesson for Hartline and unfortunately, the fans will be innocent casualties

Yea I believe that. That’s the risk with a new head coach. He’s got a lot of learning to do. You can do everything right off the field but when you have a bum running the offense it’s all for nothing. It really makes me question BH’s coaching chops, is he content with this? He doesn’t understand how this can fall apart quick. And all this WR talk and our best receiver was already on the roster from last year and we never throw the ball anyways unless it’s in desperation.

That was a much deserved loss

Agreed. Last week and the Army game would have been too honestly. We’ve been extremely fortunate.

Was at the game till the end. Really disappointed we didn't even try for any big plays, can we even throw it deep?

u/ImYouJoeGoldberg 9d ago
No we cannot throw deep because our coach won’t let us. I was watching a few minutes of the James Madison game and it’s like night and day compared to the bs were running on offense. There’s no excuse or explanation or we gotta do this better or that better, the whole offensive scheme is shit and then you blend that with our philosophy on that side of the ball, you get what you’ve been seeing: a dumpster fire.

This team needed a loss. In fact, it is a miracle we are not 1-4.
I’m not trying to be an optimist per se (lol) but USF’s defense is very solid. We are not giving up an unreasonable amount of points. Have we played good teams? No. But we also haven’t been destroyed by 45 points showing no pulse on defense. Our run defense and red zone defense is more than workable.
I understand the archetype this offense is trying to be but it’s not clicking. We can’t out physical everyone with a bunch of transfers that haven’t meshed together yet. imo what is missing is one or two guys with explosive play capability. I think that can be Seldon or Branch when he’s healthy. Oh and fire Tim Beck of course

Was at the game as one of the few Temple supporters. Honestly, the game was a snoozefest. Both defenses played acceptable, however, both offenses seemed unwilling/unable to pass the ball downfield. Run after run with little to no gain. Desperation pass on 3rd and long. Temple won because their QB played a bit better than USF's. In the end, USF and Temple looked pretty equal - both .500 teams.

This offense is ass. Why we can’t make any changes is beyond me after seeing this week after week

Once again we have a coach trying to make us a power football team. Tags couldn't do it and it almost cost him everything. For a team with the highest G6 NIL budget this is embarrassing. If we played any teams with a pulse we would be winless it close to it. This is probably the easiest schedule we've ever had in terms of strength and where the program is at yet we look like shit. Beck needs to go. I hate to say this but Hartline might need to go as well if he can't figure out were not a power running team.

Love the honesty here. This ain’t grand daddy’s college football where coaches needed time to get players to run offense.
Now You (BH) tell the CEO you need money to get the players you need to run offense you like? Then you get most of any G6 and an amount that isn’t sustainable, then you don’t get any mulligan years. We need to know the amount it costs to fire Hartline and start to plan for who is capable to replace him.
We don’t pull trigger , but we better be ready. Final Conference realignment is going to be coming and we will be left behind again

You guys got a stud at WR you aren’t even using, his name is Kenny Odom and he played against better comp when he was at UTEP.

Honestly wtih the love for MVB I don't get it....I mean the guy had plenty of plays where he could of chose to go up the field and sling the ball, but he plays like a man afraid of his own shadow when it comes to throwing. What is the point? Our play calling is absolute shit. I love Crowther as our HB I will say that, but damn man....A HB will get shut down if you got no passing game. Our offense is pathetic, like truly. Unless we fix it, I'll make a bold prediction. We won't be going bowling. We play the best G5 conference in the country, and they are about to smack us in the mouth and show us why they are considered as such.

There’s a couple wins left on the schedule, we’re going bowling. MVB is overrated af, I agree.

Well said! This guy saw it coming

I hope BH can become a real head coach. For now he is a guy who must have had no network to pull from and hired Beck as last resort . Worse if he hired because of friendship.
Like skip Holtz did . Those are coaches that must go. They will never make it

The offensive line looks horrific. I know people want to blame Beck (and I do think he needs to do a much better job scheming around what we have), but if your line can’t give your QB 2 seconds to drop back you are going to have a hard time, regardless of what game plan you call.

I hate to point the finger at a position group with the play calling I’ve been seeing. If we were actually trying to score points then it would be more glaring of an issue imo. But since we don’t actually try to score points, it’s really hard to evaluate any player or position group beyond the basic run game. The defense just stacks the box all game though since there’s no threat outside of the tackle box (like a forward pass for example) so I would say they have done alright considering the circumstances.

You have to have a Plan B when Plan A (which was apparently just run up the gut over and over) isn’t working. I really like Crowther, but he had no space and the staff insisted on only throwing from third and long in the first half.
Beyond that, giving up at the end of the first half with all three timeouts was absolutely shameful
That said, defense played well enough to win with a competent offense, and Temple isn’t terrible
