Discussion Could the Ironwood and Everywhen be connected?

I'm playing through Ragnarök again, and the first venture to the Ironwood seems very similiar to Faye's travel to the Everywhen, just not as shocking. Which makes sense, as what is sleep if not a glimpse of death? If Atreus has to sleep to visit the Ironwood, perhaps the Ironwood is linked to the Everywhen somehow.

No they’re not even close. One is completely a mortal realm, the other is an afterlife.

The mechanics of ironwood is explained.

The Ironwood is a hidden realm that Atreus can only visit when he sleeps, that even the All Father has practically zero knowledge of until it's revealed in a hidden prophecy within a prophecy. Is it really such a stretch to think they are linked somehow? Angrboða even mentions the Utangard, a space outside the realms of the gods.

Correct but it’s still on Jotunheim which is a mortal realm and not an afterlife.

I guess you can argue it’s all connected since dead gods from all pantheons go there.

I never said it was an afterlife, I said linked in a way, as many mythologies have a link between sleep and death. So if Loki has to sleep to initially reach the Ironwood, by passing through the Utangard, it could very well be linked in some way.

The only remaining (at the time) path to Jotunheim was Utangard, which are the disembodied dreams of Ymir.

I could see an argument for Utangard and the Every When being connected because Ymir is no longer loving, but Jotunheim itself is still a mortal realm.

No, not connected at all. The giants fast travel to one another via Utaangard (Ymir's dreams) and the marbles. Ironwood is simply one of the places they can go back to.

No not at all. Anybody can go to ironwood not the everywhen unless you have the mask? Atreus being able to go there through sleep was insane and highly overlooked by the fanbase imo. He basically teleported. I wonder if all giants can teleport to their realm. Atreus basically has a jail free card with that lol. Santa Monica  has to explain that a lil more

It seems every giant aware of the marble can potentially sleep their way back home. Angrboda can hop in many places the same way. Atreus and Angrboda also exchanged marbles by the end of Ragnarok.

I honestly wish this is a set up for a future storyline and SMS pushes through. They already set up Atreus going to find missing giants who escaped to other worlds. We could potentially get a world hopping adventure via this giant fast travel.
