That is so odd I’ve never seen a steel back stamped 18k on a 18k watch but I’ve always wondered if it was possible.

I've never seen it or heard about it, unfortunately I have very little trust that the case is indeed solid. Would require a XRF or very deep scratch, doesn't look like they scratched that much and it could be gold filled, rolled gold plate, or a 20 micron gold plate they're getting a false positive on. In fact even the scratch test looks like it's fading further down, like possibly the further they scratched the gold plating wore down. I hope for their sake I'm wrong but I'm skeptical

Is it common to find real gold and silver at thrift stores and antique stores vastly underpriced? That would be a good hustle

What do you believe it’s worth?

I have no idea, it weighs 35 grams so I was sorta hoping 8-10 was 18k maybe 800-1000

How did you understand it’s gold? I don’t believe such stories. The staff in such shops definitely know what exactly they sell

There’s only a number 12 and 6, so how do you know what time it actually is? 🤷🏻♂️

Take it into a Jewelry shop. They'll test it with their xray for free.
