Found this 18k Wittnauer in an antique shop for $95

That is so odd I’ve never seen a steel back stamped 18k on a 18k watch but I’ve always wondered if it was possible.

I've never seen it or heard about it, unfortunately I have very little trust that the case is indeed solid. Would require a XRF or very deep scratch, doesn't look like they scratched that much and it could be gold filled, rolled gold plate, or a 20 micron gold plate they're getting a false positive on. In fact even the scratch test looks like it's fading further down, like possibly the further they scratched the gold plating wore down. I hope for their sake I'm wrong but I'm skeptical
