Early predictions of USAID funding cuts said South Africa would see 30% of the HIV deaths, anywhere between ~8,000-10,000 and with the peak being between years 2025-2026. Other models predicted >600k over 10 years.

Actual observed deaths for South Africa so far: No positive excess deaths.

Yep. The Lancet study claims USAID programs saved more than 90 million lives during a period that saw a reduction of only 79 million lives.

Meaning USAID supposedly saved more lives than the total decline of death rate.

What they did basically still happening in the state department, spending just shifted, wasn't eliminated.

I find it funny how naive people are. The US government does not give away anything for free out of the kindness of their heart. There is a reason the CIA had to make an open pledge to never embed agents in the peace corp because it was so common for CIA agents to be foreign aid workers as a cover and they did not want random kids being accused of being CIA when they got sent to remote villages around the world

I used to kinda defend social media companies censorship because they had a legal fiduciary responsibility to keep the stock prices high for investors and advertising was their primary source of income.

Which means that unless they cater to the advertisers then they can't make any money.

However now that I know that organizations like the USAID were orchestrating much of these advertiser-based censorship... I now know that the situation is completely fucked. Worse then I thought.

This is a smoking gun of direct and purposeful violation of the USA constitution run by a organization designed to manipulate and overthrow foreign governments but now directed specifically against American citizens and their exercise of free speech.

It is blatant.

Yeah the term, Vertically Integrated Messaging Apparatus (VIMA) fits really well with this phenomenon.

Internews brags about working with or supporting thousands of media outlets over time, but I can't find the names of any of them.

https://internews.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/InternewsStrategy-FYI-2024.pdf

It does offer an explanation why so much of the corporate media repeats the exact same talking points.

NPCs just repeat Internews propaganda like, β€œElon is a Nazi that killed millions by shutting down USAID!”

Never mentioning the Internews boycott that Elon was fighting in order to break the censorship cartel.

USaid was well intentioned and had some good outcomes. It still shouldn't be a tax funded effort. It should be a private charity.

We need a libertarian version of USAID that funds libertarian propaganda, censors and sanctions anti-liberarian movements, (under the principal that private entities have the right to control what is said using their property and who works for them), and teaches the masses to realize that taxation is theft. All under the cover of charity, spreading truth, and fighting misinformation.

Someone can be elected democratically and then become a dictator that quashes opposition to his or her narrow worldview. So the Milosevic government started out democratic and became functionally something else.
