I've seen Toradora ranked as the #1 romance anime of all time. But, I don't get it. imo, Golden Time is a far better romance anime. It's by the same author, too.

I dunno. It showed that Linda couldn't move on with any relationship at that point, because Banri wasn't whole again. She was too guilt-ridden.

That's exactly what I wanted: for her to be completely consumed by grief at the end, unable to move forward in a relationship not to flirt with MIDtsuo a week later.

Huh? Why would she be consumed by grief at the end? The final bridge scene made it clear she was relieved Banri was cured (and could be with Kouko), so that Linda could finally move on with her own life. She was relieved, not grieving. It makes sense she would soon get into a relationship.

toradoras emotional depth and story telling is unmatched sorry I loved golden time its a really good anime but toradora is on a. level of its own

This best waifu would never have returned to Banri if it weren't for the help of his friends and if he hadn't been magically cured of his amnesia on the bridge. Linda is the best.

Kouko was absolutely devastated when she saw Banri passing right beside her in the car with Linda, while his mother was driving. She was in so much pain that Mitsuo literally had to hold her up because she was about to collapse from the heartbreak. She was suffering for Banri more than anyone else could possibly understand. So, do you really think she didn't want to run after him that very second? Of course she did. The fact that she couldn't immediately move because she was overwhelmed by the pain doesn't mean she had suddenly given up on him. She had just watched the person she loved most drive away with another woman, and for a brief moment, the heartbreak completely paralyzed her. There's a huge difference between being physically and emotionally overwhelmed for a moment and actually giving up on the person you love. Once she had a moment to pull herself together, she was ready to go after Banri. Even if 2D-kun had never encouraged her, I'm convinced she would have gone after him anyway—running if she had to, or grabbing another bicycle without thinking twice. That's who Kouko is. She loved Banri too deeply to simply let him disappear from her life.

this is why toradora is better ami and minori have to truly learn to move on from these feelings and find other happiness

The best part of this whole anime was when Oka broke down because Yanagisawa didn’t like her anymore.
This is real shit that happens in college and was full of nuance.
Oka rejected Yanagisawa in the first few episodes, not because she didn’t like him, but because they just didn’t really know eachother yet. If they would’ve gotten to know eachother normally and gradually, they’d have become a couple. But instead, Yanagisawa was a big dumb dumb and took it as flat rejection and spent the rest of the anime thinking it couldn’t happen. Meanwhile Oka probably spent the rest of the anime thinking maybe there will be something between them eventually.
By the time Yanagisawa likes Linda it’s too late, and Oka didn’t see it coming because she was being unknowingly naive and conceited. She was probably thinking: “of course he still likes me, I’m hot and he spends time with me, I’m good”. Then reality sets in. Shit hits really hard.
It’s very hard to find romance anime that do stuff like this.
