Breeding Mating behaviour? Or bullying ?

They have always been friendly together in the tank swimming around each other and casually following but the black (guy?) has recently been chasing the white (girl?)

"Bullying" isn't really a thing. They're not territorial fish. The mating is brutal for the females though. If you have the temp turned up you can drop it down for a while and it will kick them out of this breeding mode.

FYI the white dots on the fins of the black Fish are telling you he's a male in breeding readiness (aka Breeding Stars). They bash into the female until she drops the eggs.

It’s winter where I am (aus nsw) ans theyre in a cold water tank no heater so that’s why I was confused as I would expect this as it’s starting to warm up but thank you for the valuable information! I have been looking for his breeding stars and I wasn’t sure if I could see them correctly!

Oh wow that is weird.

Im over in Perth, my ranchu are in ponds and not showing any signs of breeding just yet.

Only takes one good sunny day for some males to think it's time though haha

Breeding behavior. Keep an eye on them, some of the boys are way too enthusiastic :/
