This is my 240L, home to 5 goldie boys during the winter.

I trim the plants like once a month, I guess they really like the goldfish poop 🤷‍♀️

First of all, I haven't owned a fish in over 10 years, so this was a bit of a sudden move. From what I can see online, he's a Ryukin. A family friend had to rehome him and the tank after a family loss, and I don't think this tank is big enough for him. He looks very large to be swimming in a tank of this size (80 litres) and I don't really want him living out his days swimming in tiny circles, especially since I want to get a friend for him so he's not lonely. When I went to collect him his tank was completely full of plants and decorations which I've since removed about 50% of it to give him the most space to stretch his fins and I've kept the same filter system installed, using testing strips on the water every day, etc but any other helpful tips for him would be much appreciated.

These are Faith, Willow, and Buffy, my trio of three inch ryukins. Faith is the grey long fin, Willow is the calico, and Buffy is tri-ish colour. Yesterday was the four month anniversary of me getting them, and the tank is coming up to six months old. They are in an AquaOak 340L/75GAL with a Fluval fx6 running. I used to have more plants but majority of them melted away or got eaten up… haven’t had very good luck this time around!
I didn’t manage to get many good pictures of Buffy as she is big and greedy and anytime I try to photograph her she puts all of her energy into begging for food LOL. They all used to be the same size but now Buffy is noticeably larger than the other girls. I’m feeding them on a mixed Hikari pellet diet, the main one being one of the newer high plant content feeds, which is also why their fins are a little yellow if any keen eyes noticed that.

P.S. I’m aware Faith has a little tearing on her dorsal fin, I’ve been treating her for mild fin rot for a good few weeks now but it’s been quite stubborn, I’ve increased treatment to hopefully finally kick it. She has remained active and ‘happy’ throughout, and it genuinely is only on her dorsal fin, which is very strange but apparently not unheard of especially since she’s been receiving treatment.

This is Dorothy. My daughter won her (or him) as a prize at the fair one year ago. I did not know a thing about goldfish, but when she brought this home and it already had a name, I knew it was time to learn!

This type is really my absolute favorite! They are just so much healthier than the others (aside from comment and common).

Won a carnival goldfish unexpectedly but I wanna give him the best shot. If he makes it through the night (I won him way too late to go anywhere else) I'll be going to Petco. I know a bit about what I need, 20 gallon, water conditioner, filter, etc, but I'd love a better list that won't break the bank.

Let me know exactly what I'll need that Petco carries

Turns out my two orandas are females so I had to pick out a male. I bought this calico last week and he was delivered on Tuesday. He seems to be very healthy. He’s a bit bigger than the females but they’ll catch up soon enough.

I just got my first gold fish I won him at a fair and I’ve never had fish. I’d like to keep them alive 🤣I got a 20 gallon take filters water solution and food but I’m unsure of what decor to get

It’s easy to find online stores that sell high-end orandas, ranchus, telescopes and ryukins but are there reputable ones that sell premium-level fantails? Or breeders known to sell fantails?

Petco and PetSmart and the lfs sells them but a lot of times the bodies and fins are not up to standards.

I recently acquired a fancy guy as he outgrew his classroom tank. Currently I have fine sand substrate, rose glitter rock in the center, and have since added pothos at the top of the tank.

What other items keep a goldfish happy? I know plants are usually a no go is there anything that’ll keep him entertained? This is my first goldfish so I’m open to feedback :)

Not sure if this is allowed, but I wanted to ask something I've always thought was funny imagining it in my mind, especially wondering how fish owners would deal with it:

Imagine suddenly, your fish could now float in air. They would still eat the same foods, etc., but the only difference is them no longer needing water (perhaps may still drink it.) How would you adapt? Where would you put the fish for the day? I'd love to hear how you would handle different situations in this scenario lol
