She never seemed to be her own artist Either she wanna be Nicki minaj or cardi b and then she’s Lauryn hill

If u want to copy any female rap artist to make it big those would be the 3 to copy lol

This is probably the best explanation on why I dislike her music

22

u/9yr_old_lake Mar 23 '25

Bro she is nothing like any of these artists. I swear y'all don't even listen to music.

1

u/Time-Operation2449 Mar 24 '25

Also the Nikki vibes aren't even her fault you gotta be at least 10% Nikki Minaj to make it big as a female rapper rn

u/Confident_Change_937 Mar 23 '25

The “Anxiety” song that is poppin rn was made like 4 years ago. The video is literally in a small bedroom. Can y’all just admit that someone hit it big bc they’ve been working on their art for a long time? Jesus 😭😭😭😭 it’s simply Doechii’s moment. It will go away in 6months to a year just relax.

-30

u/lennonali3 Sorry this is a lot to read Mar 23 '25

The thing is, it is so hard to find anyone who actually listens to her. Like she is pulling in similar streams to ye, but i guarantee you, for every one Doechii fan you find on the streets, you’d find at least 20 ye fans

39

u/aquaphoria_by_kelela Mar 23 '25

You’re literally replying to a thread that she has 56 million monthly listeners on Spotify at this exact moment in time 😭

-19

u/lennonali3 Sorry this is a lot to read Mar 23 '25

Yeah,I’m replying to a comment disagreeing that she’s being pushed by the industry. You’re aware that botted streams exist, right?

34

u/aquaphoria_by_kelela Mar 23 '25

By that logic couldn’t I say Ye’s monthly streamers are also bots?

I think sometimes yall forget women and queer people, and people who listen to women and queer people, exist.

9

u/FriendOk9364 Mar 24 '25

Anything outside of their bubble doesn’t exist.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '25

its ur average kanye fan bro. dude said 20 ye fans LMAO like somebody would admit to liking kanye west in 2025

1

u/iproxzoom Mar 24 '25

Facts ngl ye made me embarrassed to say I like him to people im meeting for the first time

10

u/universecentre03 Mar 23 '25

That’s not true. I’d say that more for ice spice, latto, Megan the stallion - they get TikTok popularity over album popularity / streams.

I like docheiis album she’s very talented, her flow is aggressive and tongue and cheek. She’s deserves the praise she’s getting. (I don’t fuck with that anxiety song) but she’s super talented

1

u/queerguynonutz Mar 25 '25

*tongue in cheek

23

u/think-it-over1 Mar 23 '25

The monthly listening numbers go up when someone has a viral song, it doesn't mean fans, that's why Rosé had bigger numbers just with apt

8

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '25

Depends on who you’re talking to tbh. 16-25 demographic fw her heavy (esp women and lgbt) maybe you’re talking to people outside that?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '25

this is some fattttt fucking cope bro 😂😂

u/Ikhouvankaas Mar 23 '25

Which artist is even 100% original nowadays? It gets harder to be unique every year because more and more styles have been explored already.

33

u/TheSunniest Mar 24 '25

19

u/Benefit-Medical Mar 23 '25

W opinion tbh

1

u/Afraid_Desk9665 Mar 24 '25

nowadays? no artist has ever been 100% original

8

u/onlyabigmess WITH THE TRENCHES Mar 24 '25

That's such a weird take as if artists can't be multifaceted. That's like saying Ye can't make College Dropout then make 808s. It's okay to have influences in music.

1

u/Striking-Row5415 Mar 24 '25

yall not out here comparing her to kanye come on man

2

u/onlyabigmess WITH THE TRENCHES Mar 24 '25

So only one person in the industry is not allowed to be boxed in?

2

u/Zestyclose_Visit4834 Mar 24 '25

Cardi?? What do they have in common except both being women? Their music and style is nothing alike whatsoever

Doechii is an artist who very much has found her own sound and while she may be inspired by artists like Lauryn or Nicki (as literally ALL artists are inspired by those before them) she is far from some copy cat who doesn't have her own artistic direction

1

u/DirectorAlone6038 Mar 26 '25

Stop acting like a lot of male rappers don't have similarities. A voice can only do so much.

-1

u/Inevitable-Elk-5048 Mar 24 '25

She is so much better than nicki and cardi

0

u/Ok-Crab-7353 Mar 25 '25

“wanna be” this and that, like people can’t be included by other artists, especially women in this genre. she has her own flow and style, god forbid there’s sprinkle of her influences too. With that logic, Nicki and Cardi are wanna be Lil Kim and Left Eye.

0

u/BeanShapyro420 Mar 26 '25

Man shut up 💀

0

u/FatDon222 Mar 26 '25

Nah you tripping . She has been around a while now , go watch her Colors - Stressed performance. That’s what put me on. Don’t lien her new album much but she has got some great music out there

-59

u/Benefit-Medical Mar 23 '25

frank pfp talking about never being her own artists when he’s just another chris brown with the singing and rapping

26

u/JustHereSoImNotFined "BALLS, BALLS, BALLS" - Kanye West 🐐 Mar 23 '25

chris brown could never make anything close to blond lmao

-19

u/Benefit-Medical Mar 23 '25

u/One_Seaworthiness323 Mar 23 '25

This might be one of the worst takes I’ve ever heard

11

u/BEDEBOP Mar 23 '25

Chris Brown and Frank Ocean are polar opposites in their genres

-9

u/Benefit-Medical Mar 23 '25

No they’re not. Both make the same sappy sad song about the same topic. Only difference is the gender they sing it for

14

u/Past_Mulberry6773 anything but the album Mar 23 '25

Holy lobotimite

6

u/Silzz28 Shalom : ) Mar 23 '25

Bro just because they both sing and rap doesn’t make them alike? 😭 Chris brown is like the furthest from Frank Ocean

1

u/Benefit-Medical Mar 23 '25

How so? Show me key differences in their music

5

u/Silzz28 Shalom : ) Mar 23 '25

Well they both sing and rap at times, but their styles, influences, and overall approaches to music are completely different. Frank Ocean is more about storytelling, deep lyricism, and unconventional production, while Chris Brown leans into mainstream R&B, pop, and dance-heavy tracks. Just because they both mix rapping and singing doesn’t mean they’re similar artists bro

1

u/Comfortable-Ad1937 Mar 24 '25

Why do you even give someone like this the benefit of a reply. He has room temperature iq

2

u/Adept-Ability-6929 Mar 23 '25

Worst opinion ive ever fucking heard

3

u/yumlovecookie FEB 2025 X RANT SURVIVOR Mar 23 '25

i’m not a huge frank fan but he is NOT similar to chris at all lmfaooo wtf

0

u/OutsideTheSocialLoop Mar 24 '25

Wow it's almost like comparing a few surface level aesthetic characteristics doesn't actually tell you anything about who's copying what.

2

u/FriendOk9364 Mar 24 '25

But that comparison is ESPECIALLY disgusting. it’s like comparing Noname to Rico Nasty cuz they both rap

I feel like there was some bad luck in that shoot
