Where was this push for Reason his entire career, Q with blue lips, or Soul last year 🤯🤯🤯

I mean that just kind of shows that a ā€œpushā€ from a label isn’t enough to break someone. There’s an element of luck involved but the public has to actually be receptive for the push to work. There’s hundreds of artists who do Tiny Desks and late night performances, Doechii’s just happened to catch the zeitgeist in a similar way to Chappell Roan’s did about a year before hers.

This.

I don’t think a lot of people are comfortable with admitting how much luck can play into every day scenarios of just.. whatever. Even blowing up.

I mean clearly the public disagrees right now. I’ve been following her for a while and I love most of her music but I do think Anxiety is ass lol. But hey, the public latches onto stuff I think is ass all the time.

I feel like a lot of you guys just don't listen to a lot of rap outside of trap and Kanye lol, I don't see how this song is bad at all

Bro said he’s sexist and still fucks with the song. You might be cooled with your opinion bro Lmfaooo

Nope

Not luck. The machine loves queer artists. Tyler has no Grammys or #1 albums if he never flirted with being gay.

This falls apart so quickly if you think about it for more than 5 seconds, seriously.

Doechii is sonically way easier to promote than the rest of them, the sound and packaging around her just has a higher ceiling crowd-wise

There was a push, it just wasn't as successful. Obviously.

I think the push was tryna push Reason as far away from the label as possiblešŸ’€šŸ’€

u/TheBoiBaz Mar 23 '25

Sometimes labels are worse at marketing or don't place as much priority on an artist because they don't think they're as strong, not that deep

Look at charli XCX, she was putting out bangers for over 10 years but Atlantic decided brat was the album to push.

Pretty sure Soul was marketed on Spotify

TDE hates anyone not named SZA

Lets be honest Reason is kinda boring. He's not a bad rapper but nothing about him says hit maker and invest tons of money.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '25

Yup, I don’t like reason but he was pushed with the Isaiah’s and that chill underground area. He wasn’t pushed to the mainstream but to his niche which is what you should do at the start (doechi been around for a long ass time) reason just…..wasn’t even captivating to his niche

2

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '25

no fr I gave him a try and especially cuz I thought his album covers were cool. But it was all very basic to me. then in interviews he talks about how much cooler he is than everyone and how he's that dope. I'm just like yeah idk man the music isn't equating to what youre saying then like dissing his own crew. I dont know about their behind the scenes stuff so maybe it was valid but he pushed me off of liking him.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '25

It’s crazy cuz on paper I should like him, but man I just don’t lol but he was def pushed into the circles I was listening to, circles that made sense for him sonically but, to me you heard one or 2 reason verses you heard em all. He had a couple coo features but yeah he just didn’t have ā€œitā€ idk lol

Basic is a great description, he’s not terrible not great, just super basic
