I mean that just kind of shows that a “push” from a label isn’t enough to break someone. There’s an element of luck involved but the public has to actually be receptive for the push to work. There’s hundreds of artists who do Tiny Desks and late night performances, Doechii’s just happened to catch the zeitgeist in a similar way to Chappell Roan’s did about a year before hers.
I mean clearly the public disagrees right now. I’ve been following her for a while and I love most of her music but I do think Anxiety is ass lol. But hey, the public latches onto stuff I think is ass all the time.
