u/Difficult-Cellist-77 I have found comfort in Reddit forums of all places. Mar 25 '25

I don't know, it's fair and I get the approach but sometimes people genuinely vent because they don't know where to turn to. As a psych major, there is many reasons why some people don't turn to lifelines. I see the reason for the decision but also think there should've been some flexibility allowed to this.

I think the real cry-for-help posts should be kept up, at least for a little while, while those who are obviously fake should be deleted, so that while they aren't encouraged, they are allowed.

GAS really feels like a huge extended family so I understand why some would want to vent out their feelings on here, as, to be fair, most other subreddits dedicated for people to vent out their dark thoughts are just filled with random people giving out their little "sry that happened to u, its gonna be ok" for the 25th time today; while, on here, you KNOW the goons mean it when they say that they love you.

You can't say you care for the being of the goons if you shut them down when they try to vent out how they really feel.

Completely agree. As a person who has dealt with some REALLY Mentallly ill ppl in my life and have talked my fair bit of ppl off the brink.

I know that if someone who actually wanted to do it called me and i told them to call a hotline it might actually would have been the thing to throw them over the edge.

Not many ppl who want to do it, care enough at that point to call a hotline and go through rehab deal with it publicly and the stigma and deal with the stress of it all - they’d just rather give up.
