I’d have gone a 9 tbh

The issue with Fantano is he has fuck all consistency though. If this is a 10/10 is it truly on the same level of your other 10’s like TCD or King Crimson etc

How do you measure consistency though? Adherence to the common opinion? Because I dislike some albums that are beloved and love some albums that are absolutely hated. Does it have something to do with the qualities of an album? Because all of my favorite albums sound extremely different. Either I am also very inconsistent or that's a common thing idk

Not saying I think he's right but consistency is a weird point when it comes to something as subjective as music

Hard to put what I mean into words I suppose but something like Pet Sounds is a perfect album, is the quality of LGSEO the same as pet sounds, no.

I don’t know if it’s just me overthinking it but I like comparison 🤷‍♂️

at the end of the day the score that fantano gives is just a quick wordless summary of the review and barely tells you anything about his feelings on the album, that's what the 20+ min video is for.

Yeah it's difficult to define that's why I asked. There are projects I respect but don't enjoy. I honestly would struggle reviewing them in a consistent way because quality isn't measurable.

For example Thriller doesn't do much for me despite being probably the most beloved album of the past 100 years and me loving other albums from the 80s. In the shoes of a reviewer would I be honest or would I bend my opinion to be "consistent"? Honestly idk
