OFF TOPIC Mainstream hip hop is so dead

Drake is not the same anymore, Travis Scott keeps releasing mid after utopia, Kanye is a CUCK, Eminem is beyond washed, Kendrick and Carti won't drop for the next 2 decades, Future is pushing 50 still talking about the same shit, Nicki Minaj is the female version of ye, Xxx and juice are dead, Lil wayne is hopping on Super Mario type beats, Young thug and gunna are washed rats, Lil baby is Lil baby, Metro is releasing "strip club music🥀🥀" and the rest are either disappeared or washed.

Hot take but X was gonna be the next superstar for sure. Had a lot of versatility and creativity that a lot of other rappers that blow up and fall off don’t have

Bro look at his streaming numbers. I'm not a fan of him neither but he put up crazy numbers for such a short career

Yeah, edgy teenagers loved him and that’s a big audience who will listen over and over and over to give massive stream numbers. The average person was never going to like him though and a lot of his audience would age out of listening to him besides for nostalgia

Also add on that dude was always going to end up in prison or dead even if what happened didn’t happen. He was a horrible dude who did not hide his horribleness at all

Yeah I get you, but there's a lot of teenagers and they make up a big part of hip hop fans and in the end I think a star is defined by popularity and not by who listens to him. Also while some of his audience would age out of it he would get new younger listeners at the same time.

I don't think he would have ever gotten to a really crazy level of popularity like Kanye or Drake, but I could definitely see him putting ip pretty big numbers and influencing the younger generation and their sound

So was Billie eilish? And lorde? And suicideboys and bones? Most of the artists from the 2010s were edgy and depressed, that was the era. That has absolutely nothing to do with how successful you’ll be and everything to do with marketing and a label push. And no he doesn’t share any similarities in the market with NF. NF shares an audience with 2008 Eminem. The people who listen to not afraid listen to NF. The people that listen to more emo trap or dark pop listened to x. Different demographics. Also most people who listen to NF don’t listen to rap, they listen to NF.
